Common problem. Probably low flux capacitor fluid level.

I don’t know about other models from the era but the XK is notorious for issues relating to a disconnected or dead battery. It’s not uncommon to have to have windows and seats recalibrated which unless you have the SDD software and Mongoose cable is a dealer job. When i was shopping for the car i test drove 4. Each one had had a dead battery at some point and all 4 had seats that needed calibration. The seat backs don’t come all the way forward. So i’m trying to avoid touching the battery for now but after yesterdays low warning I may go there anyway. |
"TBH i’m afraid to even change the battery on the thing.

It's my understanding, before disconnecting the negative cable, insert a 9volt battery into the 12volt socket to keep the previous settings from being erased. __________________ |

Insert where? How? |

If you do not have a battery problem, I would confirm the actuators are working. You might have a wiring issue. I would start with a wiring diagram to look where all four actuators share wiring. |
Well, you can't do a hard reset if you leave 9v in the system. It was a suggestion which by nature is an internet danger. I did not know that Jags were susceptible to going completely dead.
Now I'm wondering since this car has gone dead a few times if that is what has made the computer show codes that are not there. I wonder if any Jag people rent that expensive cable. It's not like the Durametric that only takes up to 5 VIN's. I clip my 9v into the fuse panel on the Boxster to save the radio code. If you get locked out and don't have the code, the radio and sound system is done. Going full dead means draining capacitors so hence the soft start. |
