Ouch!

"Hey, Porsche guys, can I have that rear wing? It'd look great on my wall!"

The way the video of the GT1 progressed the way they showed the car going right to left when it had to rear shell, and then the guy walking left to right with the wing, you could almost imagine the driver driving back and the guy with the wing trying to hand it to him or stick it in the trunk or something.

At least the McLaren looked relatively unscathed other than maybe a bruised ego and minor front bumper issue.

Both the FOS and Revival are both on my bucket list. But I have to say, the FOS seems to be getting more dangerous. A wheel came off a vintage Jag and went into the crowd a few days ago. Fortunately no serious injuries. IMHO, hay bales and rope aren't enough for a timed event like this.

Both cars can be sent back to the respective manufacturers, and made as good as new. It just takes a large check or bank transfer.

It is just money.

Yep. And since they are race cars, it's entirely possible and likely that there's not much of their original body left. And even the suspension and other bits may have been crunched and replaced multiple times.

Still, you hate to see it happen.

The notion that vintage racing is safe is just not true. We've had two guys killed in our club the last 5 years. One in a 911 last season and one is a sports racer a few years back. Both very experienced drivers :-(
