How many flyers do you get with misspelled words?

Just got another carelessly tossed on the front walk.

They do excellent "sanding and primming" to "make you house look good."

I can understand the advertising customer handing bad copy to the printer. But this flyer was printed custom size on glossy stock. Does the printer not proof read?

OK, copy submitted online and the order is processed all digital. Still....

It's not the printers job to proof read the copy. They just make prints.

Bulk mail flyers are ganged up digitally on large sheetfed presses from PDF files sent by the client.
Fast and cheap, the printer takes no responsibility for errors (or content, unless the printer has personal or professional objections)

(And these presses may not even be in the US; shipping is cheaper than wages.)

I will admit to getting a good laugh at some of the stupidity. Being a writer I see this stuff before I see the message.

As a guy that has made tons of brochures, flyers, and sales literature, it was my responsibility to check the grammar and spelling. It was never the printers responsibility.

I guess its like Toyota being responsible for the pressure in your tires for that car you bought off the used lot.

No, I think that was always true. Printers print things. That's it. I have published 2 magazines so know a little about this.

Well, Eric, my family was in the advertising business since 1927 and worked with local printers. If something was wrong, they would send it back. I'm a boomer so my perspective on this is based on the 1950's. A misspelled anything was a shameful event. A good printer would not print a mistake.

I hear you, and I wish it were so today.

Spotted this one a few years back.

It has become an exclamation for certain phenomena, like landing your car upside down in a ditch.
