Once you’ve had black, you’ll never go back.
On very, very rare occasions will I add a wee bit of dairy to tone down the harshness of bad coffee. |
Cookies.
I dunkaroo cookies in my black coffee! |
Sometimes a shake of cinnamon in the French Press with the grounds before the hot water goes in.
I usually add a teaspoon of honey to my morning 16oz travel mug. I have found a single grain of table salt does an amazing job of taming any bitter taste in a harsh cup. I have tried "bulletproof coffee" - Dissolve a small pat of sweet creme butter in a cup. Not bad. |
A pinch of salt on the grounds for a pot
What I put in my coffee depends on the situation. In the morning, on an empty stomach, with a little milk, maybe some sugar if it I am going a bit before I will have a chance to eat. After dinner, black, more likely to have it with brandy, than brandy in the coffee. I make a fine iced coffee. Good strong coffee, lots of sugar, plenty of cream, use the handle of a spoon to get a bit of cocoa. Not hot chocolate, Hershey powdered cocoa with a few grains of salt, cocoa needs a bit of salt to bring out the flavor. Do not care for burnt coffee, hence am not a fan of the starbucks, would almost drink soda pop before I would drink that swill, almost. |
Vicodin, Oxycontin, Fentanyl, half cup of Pervitin. Good to go by 3pm.

Caffeine inhibits ADH.

Why do the dry places (Italy/Arabia/Turkey) serve concentrated coffee?
|
Double shot Americano with 1/2 oz of cream. Absolutely no flavoring or sugar allowed.
|
Nothing. You think I'm going to ruin that flavor and aroma after I've paid good money for my Folgers?
If it's good enough for Mrs. Olsen, it's good enough for me, you're darn tootin'! |
best thing to put in coffee is an espresso shot
|
I am, I confess, a latte fan. So for me I put creamy, gently foamed milk, on top of my expresso shot.
Mind you, I really enjoy a plain black coffee. It's all about good beans I guess. |
Half and half and raw sugar.
...queue the "coffee black is superior" mafia in 3..2...1 I will drink a good espresso black. So savory. |
organic 2% milk. nothing else
|
The pinch of salt in the grounds is key to killing the bitterness of crappy coffee. Every Frac Data Van operator in the oil patch knows this from Western Canada to Texas to Siberia…

during covid times I transitioned. Had always poured a shot of milk before the coffee....swapped over to almond milk and got used to that.
Never soy milk, because, well...I'm not. So, after almond, I found it easy to go black, and what a world this has opened up for me. Now, it's easy to brew coffee in my hotel room, no special requests when ordering coffee out, just bring it on. No Soy....I am not- milk. But, to answer your question. The best add-on is some ice cream. vanilla is very good, and any coffee/mocha, whatever, oh boy....off the charts, you get the milk, you get the sweet....yowza. and if you need good beans, I highly recommend by buddy Stephen, he ships....he's a Porsche (and Saab) guy and the beans are fantastic. https://brewtusroasting.com |
Normally, I just have a little sugar but I do occasionally love a Starbucks with whipped cream. It's like a dessert.
And for all you I like it Black people: A study was done that finds psychopaths take their coffee black. |
LOL .... like a pinch of salt, a bit of cream or sugar is gonna change that ;)?
