I'm really feeling my age lately with the passing of musical artists that made some of the best music ever made.

Well, I'm sorry to hear this news. Surprised to hear he was 80 - did not realize he was a little older than many of his peers....
RIP, Robbie.

The podcast "Behind the Song" with Janda Lane has an episode on The Band "The Weight," which I thought was one of her best. For some reason, I can't find it online- the list says there's 4 hidden episodes. I found it in my Amazon Music podcasts. It's dated 4/8/2020. Chances are you can find it in your podcast provider.

A male child born in the United States today will live to be 73.5 years old on average.
He did well. The Band (and him) will always be remembered for their great music.

I didn't listen to him much, but the first time that I heard "Somewhere Down the Lazy River" on MTV, it certainly grabbed me. I've never forgotten it.

A couple of years ago they did a replay of the Last Waltz at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville and the wife and I went. Robbie came out and played so I was able to see him live.
Always loved the Last Waltz. Dave |

And remember they are the guys that took Dylan electric. It was an earthquake in the folk world. Then Music from Big Pink. The Band was central to the late ‘60’s early’70’s. The soundtrack to my youth

I do believe they "nailed it"... I would always try to catch the Staples when at Jazz Fest in 'Nawlins .... it wasn't the same gospel music that I knew as a kid ... that's for sure ![]() |

I was very fortunate to see Levon And the Hawks at the Dunes in Ocean City NJ. I believe that was in 1966. They were really special, but, of course I had no idea they would play on to be one of the best bands ever.

Robbie Robertson
Yet another rock-and-roll hero of my youth has died. What a loss. The man upstairs is assembling one heck of a band:
