Maybe I was premature buying new Tacoma.

Remember my encounter with a drunk driver? Well I finally got all the paperwork from the DA office to my insurance company. They made me do all the legwork so I have since moved on to a different insurance company. Service sucked.

The damage was much less than I expected. I have been driving it still, and even managed jamming a 5/8th’s steel rod into one of my very worn out tires. I’m running on the spare. I wasn’t gonna buy 4 new Michelins for a truck that was potentially going away. In the meantime, I bought a new truck. I was going to anyways, but the boozer accelerated my timeline.

The body shop just called. They can fix it within the limits of my tiny uninsured motorist coverage!!! My wife is on the fence about selling it. Kinda want to keep it for the dirty stuff. .

Can you just take the cash and sell it as-is?

My 99 Tacoma was rear ended on the hiway many years ago. At that time it had over 300,000 miles on it. The insurance totaled it and offered me $3000. I fought for 4,000 and settled for $3000 plus the truck. I replaced the bumper for $100 and kept it for another 130,000 miles until I got a check engine light I couldnt figure out. Sold it for $1500 with 439,000 miles on it. Still miss it.

If it's not costing you anything to get it fixed, why not do it?
You can always sell it later on and I imagine it'll be easier to sell if fixed.
A set of tires would help in that regard too.
Do you have room to store it when not in use?

I have room to park it. I just paid registration and the year of new insurance.

Max cost of repair for an uninsured motorist coverage is $3500, only to be paid to a shop. It’s never issued to owner.

I’m
Happy this is coming to a conclusion.

Depending on year these Tacomas are worth really good money. I got offers of 3 grand after I promised it to someone else.
