No way would I race anyone today. Some dumb kid dies, and you catch a case for vehicular manslaughter. Not to mention the civil exposure. No thanks.

But tailgating for miles when there is open road ahead with no on-coming cars? |
I think the biggest magnet attractant to Mustangs are Power Poles leaving a car meet....:D

At least the first guy was 3 car lengths behind as opposed to 10 feet.

^^^ It was prob closer to two lengths...I could see his face clearly in my rear-view mirror.

I pulled up to red light next to a couple young guys in a foxbody one Saturday night. It was my wife and I in my Cayenne Turbo. I don't know what engine they had (maybe a six cylinder even) ...but they started revving their engine and looking over at me. They may have not known I had the turbo model (or even what my car was). I did not look back, but when the light changed, I let them take off (burning rubber), and then gave mine about 3/4 throttle. Of course, the all-wheel drive hooked right up with no spin. I passed them like they were sitting still. When they got to the next light, the driver looked over all sheepish and exclaimed that he did not realize how fast "those" were. It probably added insult to injury when the trailer I was pulling with my '74 911 on it also passed them (lightweight aluminum Trailex). My wife never even realized I was racing (sort of racing).

These clowns should have their license permanently pulled. A holes. Also, another diesel clown.

The one guy yells...."How are we getting back home?" Idiots. |
Tailgaters are just a problem. I live in an area with narrow roads, just 2 f350s wide barely, if one of us puts half a tire in the weeds, and no shoulders. Doesn't matter if I'm in the 911 doing 60, which is way too fast, or on the Duc, or in the truck, I've got some asshat in a beat Nissan pickup on my tail, crossing the yellow then tires in the dirt, generally expressing his frustration. Its stupid.
And the last time I wailed around one of these blind corners, torching the apex and generally having fun, I found a landscaper blocking all the road backing his trailer into a property. Luckily the ditch wasn't deep... Never mind that the missus got passed on the LEFT while at a t stop sign because she didn't move fast enough. She was turning left and didn't kill said asshat, too bad for darwin. Its not the 911, cause the jerks don't understand that a modern Honda has more HP. |

Hell, I've seen 'em do it on multi-lane highways/interstates. I've seen where some numbnuts is in a center lane or the left lane, and another numbnut comes up behind the first guy, and instead of going around, they'll tailgate at <1 car length for 5 miles. If it happens to me (in the center lane, I'll kick off the cruise and let my car slow down until they go around. If I'm in the left lane, I move over before they get there or as soon as possible. |

^^^ With the adaptive cruise on my Civic....I could do the same by setting the distance to the min.
I don't see the benefit of doing it. I usually go by my old drivers training and follow at least a car length for every 10mph. My adaptive cruise sometimes surprises me. If I have it on and it slows the car down for traffic ahead....it will stay the same distance behind until I move into an open lane. When the shift is made...the car rockets ahead until the cruise makes it stay at the speed set. The rocketing ahead always catches me off guard. |

[QUOTE=masraum;12071707]GENIUS! Meh, I don't know about "A holes" (assuming they get approval from the property owner before hand), but they are certainly dumbarses.
I think intentionally ruining things that a lot of people will never be able to afford just for the sake of clicks, sensationalism and money earns the AHole tile. It’s not much different than the moron who crashed his plane faking an engine failure while filming it. |
I don't think they planned to intentionally destroy the cars. My guess is that they figured it would be about as bad as doing a few donuts. I don't think they had planned to burn the cars to the ground or do any permanent damage. I suspect they figured "drive it around in a field, then pay someone to clean and detail it, and we're good to go."

Never thought of a hot catalytic converter over dry material? Evidently not.
