Well, if you are paying attention and see someone coming up on you, then you move out of the way, problem solved.

Yep, I already said that. That works for us thinking folks. Also, if I'm the guy that comes up behind someone that DOESN'T get out of the way, then I go around them when I can. I'm all about maintaining the flow of traffic is much as possible, my flow and everyone elses.

Hell, I've seen 'em do it on multi-lane highways/interstates. I've seen where some numbnuts is in a center lane or the left lane, and another numbnut comes up behind the first guy, and instead of going around, they'll tailgate at <1 car length for 5 miles. If it happens to me (in the center lane, I'll kick off the cruise and let my car slow down until they go around. If I'm in the left lane, I move over before they get there or as soon as possible.

Whenever I get the stoplight race request, I give them the nod, and just let them race themselves.

When I get up next to ricers or hot dogs at freeway on ramps, I like to frustrate them with my old man car and casually stay a little ahead of them.

So, with someone tailgating you, do you ever "brake check" them?

I do this also. If I see someone coming up behind me pretty quickly, I will move out of the way.
Coming home from a wedding reception in Atlanta last night I saw all kinds of examples of idiocracy on I-85, I was glad to get outta there. Once I was out of Atlanta, I set my cruise to 80 and didn't have to touch the brake or accelerator all the way to Opelika, that was a nice enjoyable ride home!!!

When I was a kid, you had to wrench or pay someone to wrench to have a fast car, now all you need is a willingness to write a check every month .

He did, whether he realized it or not.

Porsche...trailing throttle oversteer

Mustang...full throttle oversteer

I did that to an unmarked police car who was up my bum on a 35mph road with two lanes each way about 15 years ago. A little crowded but far from dense.

His passenger and him were thankfully on the way to an important meeting but he set my ass on fire at the next stop light pulling along side me.

I said "Yes, Sir" after he verbally slapped me down. That line often works and I went on with my day.

Do you brake check? No because I really don't want to get hit. If the moron is too dumb to give themselves room for reaction they are probably too dumb to be ready for a sudden change. I used to do so by keeping my foot on the gas but lightly tapping the brake with my left foot while not slowing down (or hitting the 4-way flashers) but I don't any more because they may get mad and then we have a road rage incident.

Bob: About the officer right on your bumper - he wasn't going to give you a ticket because he would have had to explain how he wasn't able to stop in time...

That Mustang got what he wanted - everyone's attention. He probably also got a bill from the city for the light pole

Yeah, I worked with this lady that had a 370Z and she thought she was hot ***** in that car. A girl that we worked with was tailgating her in the parking lot at work one day, the Z lady didn't like the girl anyway. Z lady comes into work the next day and tells us all about how the girl was tailgating her so she says, "yeah, I brake checked her" like she had really showed her. I was thinking, okay, that's a pretty stupid thing to do while driving the beloved Z, the girl could've rear ended you.

uh, no.

I have no idea who this person is (actually, is he the guy that put horse buggy wheels on a Challenger?) but I have to wonder when he reaches middle age, will he come to the conclusion that he could have made the difference in a lot of folks' lives with that $400K he threw away in the corn field.

Had no idea. I'd say he's a twat, and he is, but he also knows what he's doing, and realized that he could spend a ton on a cool car and likely make a TON of money doing it. He understands social media and the Internet and is making a killing making the most of that. My guess is that the videos of him beating the car up made him a ton of money. Ferrari will probably never sell him another special car, but he probably doesn't care.

He's making a ton of money doing stupid crap that people watch on youtube. This is, I'm sure, probably how he's making the money. Hell, the car was probably written off as a business expense. I don't think he's worried about philanthropy.

If someone told me "you can buy a $400k ferrari, and then make enough money being a dumbarse with the car to pay for the car plus have enough money left over to pay your bills the rest of the year," I'd probably be a dumbarse with a $400k Ferrari.

Years ago a friend told me about one of his dad's coworkers who hated street racers.

One day he pulled up to a light downtown at a busy intersection (2 lanes in each direction) and a wannabe racer pulls up next to him and starts revving his engine. I don't know what either car was.

The guy who hated street racers looks over at the guy and starts revving his engine too. He keeps looking at the guy while making sure the light was still red. The wannabe is not aware the light is still red. Street racer hater hits the gas, his car lurches forward for a couple of feet, then he immediately hits his brakes.

The wannabe racer floors it, tires boiling, and flies into the intersection... and gets t-boned. IIRC, no one was seriously hurt and hopefully wannabe learned a lesson.

I don't approve of someone teaching a life lesson like that which could involve injury or worse, but it's a good story and it's definitely good for a laugh.
