When Airline Pilots go cray cray.

Happened a few days ago.

I hope his piloting is better than his chopping.
Maybe he needs a sharper axe.

Pretty ballsy to try and disarm an unhinged guy swinging an ax .
The water temperature is rising, I can see it and feel it everywhere . Im not so sure this is the American Dream .

Those arms break off easy peasy by hand using a little body weight as told to me by a friend.

I was underwealmed by the little security guy and his very animated need to remove the ax from the pilot. That was stupid given the downside. (Just internalized Freddy's comment - same thing - oops)

Wouldn’t it have been easier to just lift up the arm. The further away from the pivot point the more leverage you have.

It's like trying to chop a branch half-way from the trunk of a tree with an axe.

Obviously the pilot is not the sharpest axe in the shed.

Clearly not. And WTF was he doing with an axe in his car?

And why an axe when I'm sure you could pretty easily break those things off. grab at the far end and walk and you've got a ton of leverage.

SHould probably also check a few YT videos out on axe sharpening.

I had a friend who bought one of those original humvee rigs, fire engine red, limo tint windows. Alas, too wide to fit through the gate, similar to the one here, at the doctor's parking lot. He drove through it anyway, kept breaking it off, made him park outside the lot. Those gates are sort of like a tear away jersey in football, designed to come apart

When I had my first miata, I took a toll road to get home. I got on an an unmanned booth. I would occasionally throw money in the booth and the gate wouldn't go up. I'd drive right under the gate.

On more than one occasion, I could see a paper dollar either folded or wadded up and stuck in the machine with a bunch of quarters stacked up behind it. On another occasion or two I'd see a few dollars in quarters in the change return. Clearly the universe wanted me to have those to make up for times that I got screwed by the toll booths.

Back in the 90's, the company I worked at had a head of IT who thought he was a real big deal. When the original AAnald Humvee came out he bought one. Boy was he pissed when he realized it didn't fit in the covered parking garage at the office :-)

I don't see what the problem is here.
I always carry an axe in my vehicle just for these occassions.

Too many gate holds on his last flights. This gate hold he could resolve.

Same here....I'm flying United to TPA in a little over a week. If I saw him in the pilot seat while boarding...I might turn around.

Did you know an MR2 will go right under a lot of parking lot gates ? Neither did the parking attendant who refused to release my car because I was got there 7 minutes after close .

On a side note, I am concerned that a major airline would hire a pilot (as news reported) who is so out of touch with basic physics and engineering. Yep I get he was off the hinges at that moment but for real how can someone be in command of a commercial aircraft and not see the lack of basic awareness...

That would be like an airline pilot who is not aware/equipped to use smart phone GPS to find a local Pizza joint.

I guess it could have been worse.

Clearly he was taking a page out of this "book"...
