Mustang attractant

Went to meet some friends for lunch today with my Carrera. It was a 30 mile round-trip and the weather was perfect.
Half-way there, a mustang appears on my rear...I'm going 60 on a 55 road. He is about 3 car lengths behind and doesn't pass. No on-coming traffic. He finally passes after about five miles.

The same thing happened on the way back. A different mustang follows right on my tail for a couple miles and then finally floors it and passes. I'm sure he was doing over 100 before he was past me a ways.

Both times the mustangs drivers looked real young.
Why do they do that? Do they like the smell of my exhaust?

A pic of my car...

They think your car will go zero to 100 in 5 seconds...and figure the only reason you are going so slow is because you know about a speed trap that they do not. After a while they figure out that you just "drive like an old man."

Back in the day when my late wife had the 1987 Turbo (not quite stock) she would run errands to get groceries or stuff in the 930 and almost always a young fellow in a Mustang or even a motorcycle would want to see if this senior lady know how to drive! Those were some silly guys for sure, mainly as she had been through our SDR driving school and learned to NEVER race from a standing start, but get up to 30MPH of so then make sure boost was up then go like hell!

Maybe you got a nice butt?

Probably hoping to get you to initiate a race. I always loved when someone comes up next to me and does the engine revving, speed up and drop back move to try and get me to race... and there is another car right in front of one or both of us, huh what do you think, that I’m going to floor it into the traffic in front of me?. I just ignore them anyways- both me and my car are too old to race.

Probably close to the truth. For what it's worth, I've had the same thing happen to me when driving my Bullitt model Mustang. I figure the driver of the other car may be looking for a bit of romping, but moves on after figuring out it's not going to happen. Not just Mustangs tho, other makes as well.

There is no way I'm racing someone in a Mustang that I don't know.
Especially when I don't know where the cops are and I'll prob lose.

way back when I was 1st dating Diana, (99) she told she was thinking about buying a new mustang. As were driving up 17, I explain to her how typical mustang drivers acted, trying to race, reving the engine, ect .
She laughed, and less than a minute later, here comes a mustang, reving his engine and acting like he wanted to race, I laughed and ignored him. A bit farther down the road, here is another one, doing the same thing, but this time, I am on the on ramp, and tell her, hold on, and I punch the 911 and of course it is hugging the ramp as we get on the highway, I am watching the mirror and see the mustang almost hit a RV before spinning off the road.
The SC I was driving

On the way back I did...in my stomach. I also had a box with half a sandwich and fries that I couldn't eat. I should have started flicking fries out the roof at him.

ICE, Molson ice. Molson Zoo is only available with a notarized form saying you have a bunch of exotic animals.

They have no shame in being thoroughly embarrassed by cars waaay less expensive, devoid of stickers, flags, with rolling stock and fuel filters entirely contained within bodywork. No local has the money or insight to make a truly fast diesel p/u but they all think they do.

I read the thread title and my first thought was:

Minimum of three people standing in a parking lot with coffee in their hands.

Mustang goes by sideways at 60mph and misses the people by inches, then crashes into the Burger King.

Many folks tailgate these days. It's super common. And if they want to go faster than you're going, they tailgate worse to try to push you.
