UFOs Fact or Fiction?

Personally I'm not a believer in UFOs piloted by aliens from another world, UFOs from this world yes. I've seen two things in the sky in my life, one had an explanation the other has several plausible explanations.
The first time I saw the Stealth Bomber, at a Vandenberg Air Show it was coming in straight on and it looked like a flying disk. It took a few seconds for my mind to accept what my eyes were seeing and even after it flew directly overhead it looked like a flying protractor. I could see how someone seeing it during its testing phase could mistake it for something otherworldly.
The second time I saw something odd was in Belize. A group of us had wrapped up a nine day dig on a Mayan city and had been partying in the evening. I decided I was tired of partying, had only had a couple of beers (the beer there is terrible) and went on the roof to lie down and take in all the stars as I live in a city and don't see a lot of stars due to ambient light. I was staring at a particular grouping of stars for several minutes when of a sudden one of the "stars" suddenly took off at a very rapid rate of speed and disappeared off in the horizon. I suppose it could have been a meteor coming straight on until it hit the atmosphere then veered off or a satellite but it hadn't moved for quit a while while I was staring at it. That one may be unexplainable.
Anyone have an opinion on UFOs or any experiences that defy explanation? Let us know what you think about the UFO phenomenon and let's please keep it free of flaming.

I'm open minded to little green/gray men in flying ships (as well as ghosts, monsters, etc...). I'm very skeptical of any and all reports however. I do believe that people can see all sorts of things and jump to the conclusions that they want to. I figure most things that people report as being something not of this world, are actually very much of this world, or some sort of odd natural phenomenon.

Open minded, but skeptical.

There was an interesting thread about UFOs last year.

Seahawk (?) posted about an experience that was really incredible.

I remember about ten years ago, when the NASA channel had a live feed on television of the Earth from an orbiting satellite. You could see UFOs flying around in the upper atmosphere, changing directions and everything. It was amazing to watch. They pulled the plug on that channel really fast, but you can still see clips of that on youtube.

No notions that there are visitors from other worlds, but its entirely possible that the military has craft that we will only learn about decades from now.

True - the B2 was flying prolly 15 years before any mention of it.

Nothing to see here, please move along.

3. Northrop – Tacit Blue
9 Insane Experimental Aircraft That Actually Exist

Quote:
This aircraft was developed to demonstrate surveillance technology in the early-mid 1980’s. The odd shape apparently reduced its visibility on radars, and it was purported to be durable enough to fly over combat lines and survive hostility. However, there were some differences of opinion. A Northrop engineer was quoted in 1996 as saying “the most unstable aircraft man has ever flown.” That doesn’t sound good. It was nicknamed the whale and retired in 1985 after 135 test flights. Oh well.

9. Boeing – Bird of Prey
9 Insane Experimental Aircraft That Actually Exist

Quote:
This aircraft, first flown on September 11, 1996, took stealth technology a step further than its predecessors. It was a relatively cheap $67 million to develop but was created with no intent to produce, but rather as a demonstration of various technologies. Huh. Seems like you could do that with a plane you actually planned on building on a large scale. Whatever. I’m just a writer.
The name comes from a Klingon warship, and the novelties didn’t stop there. The plane only weighed 7,000 pounds and could only travel at 300 mph, meaning that this thing wouldn’t have lasted more than a mad minute in combat, stealth or not.
I don't know everything, and keep an open mind. I've seen some weird stuff, but I was a kid, the Grays walked right through the walls, and my bedroom was full of ghost too. The boogie man lived under the bed, and the tooth fairy wielded a knife..............crazy times.

To think we are the only intelligent beings in the universe would be quite arrogant. It would not surprise me if another species has master the speed of light, or at least a close proximity.

Exactly how I felt. I was at home and the B-2 flew over an airshow nearby at low altitude and passed over my house on the way out of town.

Do I believe that there are Unidentified Flying Objects? Absolutely. I've even seen a few. Do I believe they're alien spacecraft from another world sent here to mutilate our cattle and anal probe weirdos on remote country roads while avoiding contact with our largest cities or population-at-large? Hell no.

There may have been alien visits in the past and there may even be some now, but I'm highly skeptical.

Some folks just have an irrational need to believe in dumb crap. Some kind of psychological disorder.
I used to work with a guy who believed in big foot, aliens, loch ness, lots of dumb stuff.
He actually had a metal hat to protect his brain. "Oh they're up there ,watching and listening, you just can't see them".

He also paid $50 for plans to convert his truck to run on water. That didn't work out BTW, who could have seen that coming.

He doesn't work there anymore, he left voluntarily.

Seems like every dork walking this planet has a camera, a cell phone with a camera, or some other type of digital recording device.
You'd think with billions of cameras ready at all times, if there were really aliens then SOMEONE would actually get a real photo or vid that wasn't all blurry or faked.

During my flying career I saw several things that weren't conventional aircraft by any means. I have always figured they were from the future as opposed to aliens from another planet. The former head of the skunk works swore on his death bed all the alien stuff was true. Who knows?

Not a UFO but...

My wife and I saw something that left a mark on us last year. I couldn't sleep, and took to wandering the back yard (I live in a ruralish area). It was one of those cool July nights where there were no mosquitos, a light dry breeze kept the dew light on the grass. Beautiful clear sky.

I love being outside at night, hearing coyotes in the distance and mice foraging in the dry grass really calms me. After wandering around, chasing raccoons from the garden, spooking deer in the meadow, I found myself staring at the western sky. A twinkling star had caught my eye and I just kept staring. I swear I could see it moving, almost vibrating by my perspective. A nearby arrangement of three stars now seemed have moved, their orientation to each other and the twinkling star.

I am not easily spooked or aroused, just isn't my nature. But there was something about what I was viewing that gave me a truly uneasy feeling, it was a very strong gut feeling or freaky intuition but I had no idea why. It must be my mind, or my eyes playing tricks on me, maybe I'm too tired.

To prove the insignificance of these lights I figured invalidating my observations of movement would be a good start. I walked back up to the house and found something stable to brace my head against so I could get a steady view. You guys know what I mean, when you've been trying to look at something far away in detail and it is hard to steady your vision, especially in low light. So with my chin on the hood of an F250 pickup in the driveway I again looked at my lights. Ok, still moving. I tried repositioning to use the windshield and the hood to stabilize my head. Yup, I'm crazy cuz this light is still vibrating, and now I see a quick blip of light go between the vibrating light and the three lights off to the side. WTF, now there are two lights and they're not where they were just a second ago, and even though I'm staring at this the whole time I didn't see them move. I'm really feeling something weird now, I'm not freaking out but either I'm seeing something special or I'm imagining things.

My wife wasn't happy about being woken up, but she said afterward that she knew it was something important when I came to her. If it was me seeing things that weren't there then she could tell me, and if it was something else then I thought she should see, if for nothing else another perspective. I showed her the lights, and she acknowledged 'yeah, I guess so' that there was movement. We talked about it maybe being a satellite, its reflection creating both the twinkling and movement effect. But the range of movement ruled out anything smaller than a mile in width at normal satellite distances.

While we were both silent, just looking at the lights, POW.

We both agree we saw a very bright flash, not in the sky but around us. And it wasn't a blinding flash like a camera, our eyes didn't seem to need to adjust. It didn't seem to have a source directionally or intensity wise. The split second of light seemed to give us super vision, extreme peripheral vision too. My wife and I both had the same experience and felt the flash had come from just a few feet away on our left side. We instantly looked at each other and I grabbed her and walked her toward the house. I felt very, very threatened. She stopped me and asked 'what was that', though she knew I didn't know, and now she was feeling the weirdness too. There was also a strange smell in the air, faint but like the scent of packaging materials or plastic that you only get for a second when you open something new. One of those smells that you can't quite put your finger on or describe. Not burning or electrical, more fresh and plasticky. And it was gone just a second later. My son's minibike was in that general direction (to our left, about 25' away), my garage too. I sniffed around but smelled nothing. She shared my fear, and urged me to come inside with her.

We chatted for a second once inside but neither of us really wanted to talk about it. The feelings we both had that night were nearly as weird as the lights and flash. Pardon the poor writing but it is difficult to express my experience.

I'm in the 'possible but improbable' and 'where's the proof?' camp when it comes to this stuff. I really can't fit any explanation to my experience.
