Truck alignment question

2014 F150 super crew 2WD.

After installing my 4 inch spindle lift, replacing the 3 inch level, I went to have it aligned and the shop I took it to, said they could not align it because I did not have the factory ride height and wheels?

They suggested I take it to a off-road 4 x 4 place I know about.

I didn’t have this problem when I put 3 inch level on several years ago. It has tracked perfectly and tire wear has been excellent.

Does that sound right? Can they not hook up the sensors, take readings and adjust as needed? Or maybe that’s older machines that could do that.

It drives like it always has, but my steering wheel is not centered. I’m tempted to center the steering wheel myself. Same number of turns on each tire rod.

Seems to me other than having full weight on the tires, a shop could align just the chassis w/o a body installed, the steering thing notwithstanding.

I think maybe the shop just wasn’t experienced enough with anything other than factory non modified cars.

I only took it to them because they give me a good deal on mounting low profile tires for my track car.

I have a couple other places I’ll take it to soon.

I'm not an expert on truck alignment. But I have to say that the first thought that the cynic in me had is "they just don't want to screw with it." Or possibly, "they are trying to avoid liability issues."

I'm sure that if you try a few places, you'll find one that'll say "sure, no problem," and the results will be great. Good luck.

I'd be curious to know what the lift did to your drive shaft angle or wasn't that effected by it.

To my knowledge, it didn’t do anything. But then again, I didn’t think about it!😂

If I’m not mistaken, it’s the same height now as a factory 4 x 4, so not a huge change.

You went to the wrong place. Anyone competent can along a vehicle with or without the lift.

So, as most said above, find a REAL alignment shop. A good tech can get that thing in order.
