who has priced tires lately, Holy Crap!

My Porsche C4S 996 AWD Pcar needs new rear tires.............295/30/18's...............Pilot Sport 2's are over $500 each, before mount/balance/taxes/warranty.

@#$#$%^*

That's a $2K bill for all 4 tires..............sigh. Gotta bend over and pay the Porsche Tax I guess.

I remember buying 4 (15 inch) tires for my 911, and mount and balance was under $600 for the set. That was a long time ago. And yea, my last set of tires, now 17s was a big spend.

.
It's not a porsche tax unless you buy the N1s. All tires are $$$ now. Hell, everything is $$$ now... I paid $17 for a burrito the other day and almost choked on that before even eating it. Besides you should really buy the PS4s ;-)

this is why miatas are so great, and ive resisted getting into something more powerful for so long.

and when i did, i kept it on 17s. C2 996 can run 17s, and 15s and 17s are the cheapest tires around. stay off 16s too.

i go through at least 6 sets of tires a year, tire costs are more critical than almost anything else on a car.

That's $33/mo over five years. Tires are the most important connection to the road. No more trail braking umkay.

Yep, insane. We put new tires in the wife's outback, 225 60 18 last week and my boxster is getting tires this week.
Tire Rack price for Michelin Pilot Sport 4S for the boxster $1500 (19").
Tire Rack price for Bridgestone/Michelin tires for the wife's Outback ~$1000. (first time putting tires on her car)

the other thing you can do to reduce tire costs is get rid of stagger. stagger is dumb for so many reasons, but tire costs is one of them.

buy a pair of boxster twist sets, run 17x8.5s at all four corners, sell the 17x7s to someone (or use em for winter tires) so you can rotate them.

plus all these cars lack enough front tire. 9s or 10s up front (and square) helps these cars so much.

379$ for Bridgstone RE71RS great trackable tires, not sure if avail in the front size

new to me Cayman GTS came with stupid DUBS, need to pull the trigger on some 18"s for tire availability and almost sensible pricing.

Used to get a full set of 200TW tires for my lotus for 700$...really miss that

Whatever the line number is..it's cheaper than a multiple insurance claim and hospital bill.
The sad state these days.

(forgot mandatory post- Beautiful car! )

I just ordered Michelin LTX 305/50/20 tires for my truck. ~$1600 clams. Plus mount and balance, $200. My spare was 9 years old, so I replaced it….Another $200.

I just had my second set of 315/30/18 and 265/30/18 Falken tires for the E46 330 track car this year… ~$1200 for four. Plus $140 to mount and balance.

Tires everywhere are $$$$. I've had to replace tires on both my wife's Q3 (she got run-flats because, well, reasons...) and my truck (4x4 that does go off-road) in the past few months and now my 911 is due...Aaargh!

I just bought a pair of 225/50 R16 Kumho's for my 84 Carrera.

$130 each from Tire Rack. I was ok with that price.

Here is the C4S little sister, my Cayman.

How can you have a car collection with only 1 Pcar?

and how many times have you seen a RARE blue cayman, 6 speed with sport chrono package!
