Burned pot and pan. How to clean. Upset wife

Took kids out camping for some bonding before the oldest goes off to college come next year. Had a great time doing stupid stuff. I couldn't find my trusty old pot I used for back packing from old days, so I grabbed one of our pots and a pan from the kitchen thinking I will scrub it clean in a few minutes after. Fook oh dear, I developed arthritis from using up all my elbow grease for the past couple hours. It aint coming off. It is burned rice along with a bunch of other crap we ate up there. Tasted great BTW. I fired up the net and tried all the boiling vinegar along with baking soda, bar keepers friend. You name it, I did it this after noon. Looks like a wire brush chucked to my drill may have to do the trick but that must be performed quietly in the garage when she's asleep. HElp?

Buy new fancy cookware, use blaster or grinder or whatever to clean current set, use current set as new camping set.

And while decent camp habits say "no food etc in dishes when done for night", etc. the big trick to avoid the blackening of the bottom of the outside of the pot is to smear it with some liquid dish soap and let dry before you start using it, and replace any time you wash it off. No exterior smoke marks.

Tell her about the bear that came into your camp the last night and made off with her pot.....which contained the last of your rice too.....

Make sure the pot is disposed of discreetly.....

Pics of the burned parts would help...

But yes I have used a drill and a brass wire brush to clean up pots in the past (I'm assuming no Teflon).

Nasty, old fashioned, oven cleaner. The one that contains caustic soda (I think you guys call caustic soda lye). It gives burnt on stuff death. Also takes anodising off aluminium.

Worth a try...

Ah, we have Easy Off. Will give it a go now.

Try the bear talk. No go. She's too smart for me.

I have never hear of that. Great tip, thanks.

If it’s a stainless steel pan - Drill, brass wire wheel, get everything off, then switch to a buffing wheel with polish/rouge - it will be gorgeous and non-stick and then she’ll want you to do it to all her pans.

Interesting about the liquid dish soap. We always used a soap bar ages ago. The liquid sounds much easier and more thorough.

Boiling heavy heavy salt water has worked for me. You could also try a mapp torch to incinerate to ash anything organic

Y'all... I propose the Mrs. Isn't really mad that the cookware went camping. It's that he didn't ask first, leaving her to feel subjugated.

The proper solution is an apology for making her feel marginalized, restoring the pans to a better-than-they-were condition (or a new set of equivalent cookware), and flowers.

Wife burned sugar in one of ours. Used a flappy sanding paddle thing and brass wire brush in a Dremel to clean.

This and boiling salt water did nothing for me in that instance.

Easy. You just declare the burned pot a "camping pot", go to Sur La Table and get a nice
replacement pot.

Baking soda paste and scrub with a piece of wadded up aluminum foil. Works like a charm!

Cheaper getting a new set of pans than a new wife!

All this advice and we don't know what the interior surface or coating is. We have SS, porcelain and teflon plus CI.
