At a guess Bill is still around and doing OK (there's no reason I can think of why he wouldn't be) but there are people here who know him in the real world.

FWIW I always thought he was generally OK but like a lot of people he has/had certain buttons that could be pushed.

Snipe was a character, therefore, good to have around. It's the characters that make this place the most interesting. You boring guys (not counting myself out) are good, but it's the odd ones that make this place great.

His whole "no seatbelt so I never get caught in a car underwater and drown" thing was definitely odd. Thinking that you're more likely to end up trapped underwater by a seatbelt than saved from death/injury in a more ordinary accident is almost up there with the whole flat-earth and/or chemtrails stuff.
