Have you ever been on television?
Every year they were hold a Memorial Day Service in my community. As always I attend to pay my respects to the fallen, including my uncle Michael Najarian, a Navy Corpsman, who was KIA while embedded with a Marine unit in Viet Nam.
Last year a local Fox News crew was there to cover the event and interviewed me. It is always an emotional event. https://www.foxla.com/video/1075699

My first TV appearance was on my birthday when I was 5 or 6. A local TV station had a kids show with a clown and birthday kids were featured for a few seconds, and I got to meet the clown and wave to the camera.
That was back in the olden days when clowns were fun and kids liked them. Then in 1986 Stephen King ruined clowns and made them scary and weird. I have never been featured on TV in an interview. I was in the background kinda like Forrest Gump many times when I was a press photographer at big news events. TV reporters and camera crews often tried to take over any press conference. There was a real animosity between TV, print reporters and camera crews and photographers.

6:14 to 8:25..... Daughter interviewed me about airplanes in 2002 on this local kid's newscast. My public speaking skills left much to be desired. LOL

I have (years ago now) been ambushed by TV reporters on my job and also TV interviews at public events related to my old career in highway construction. I learned early to distrust and avoid reporters of all types. Keep smiling, don't point and keep it light, try not to tell them anything important.

Only once as an adult, and then only because I was spending the day with Bob Beamon and a news crew showed up to chat with us ... well, him, mostly.

a few times, mostly when I was a kid and living in Japan. I think I was on the base news a couple of times once in the cub scouts (late 70s) and once due to some boy scout event (mid 80s).
Our school took a field trip to a Japanese school and I was interviewed by a Japanese news channel as part of that as well in the early-mid 80s.

Yup, funny enough in Ecuador visiting a large mudslide (for work) I was briefly interviewed by CNN; kind of similar in Subic Bay after the eruption of Pinatubo.
Been on TV racing cars

Do you mean besides COPS?
In high school I was on High Quiz Bowl. Our school finished 2nd in the region, we were on at least 3 episodes. At least we beat the school on the other side of town. It went something like this.. Fun unrelated story. I was working on the workstation for the station manager for one of the local TV stations. This was back when we wore ties every day. I'm sitting at his desk, typing away on his keyboard, and I hear a couple of the employees walk by his door and ask "Did we get a new station manager?" There was a lot of turnover in that job. Yep a few times. Once as a hired hit man on a show called Arrest and Trial.
Then as myself on a car show when I was attending a track event at Laguna Seca. They featured my car and interview and had several good shots of me and the car car going around Laguna Seca. They aired it several times and I would always get a call from friends when reruns aired if they hadn't seen it. Also been on TV for job related stuff.

Yes many times. I've played bit parts in lots of TV, never speaking. I hate being in front of camera. I used to show up every now and then on Entertainment Tonight in the background when they would come out and film us shooting a show.
I was on the big screen also. I'm the paramedic on the left wheeling Steven Segal into the emergency room in Hard To Kill. You see my "cabeza muy grande" pass by camera at 1:15.

Yes!
Three times on Rambling Rod as a kid. Once for some am talk show in high school. And, my 15 seconds of fame came handing out condoms at UO to promote safe sex circa 1986! I was featured up and down the West Coast. It was a slow news day. |

Yup, been on tv a couple times and been in the newspapers, also a magazine article or two.
I am not drawn to the fame, I find it to be a distraction. My wife thought it was super cool and has most of the articles and newspaper clippings in a photo album.

On one of the Portland ABC affiliates "Town Hall" shows it ran before it was dropped. Maybe 40 years ago. I countered a then State Senator's scheme of a sales tax in order to "reduce property taxes". Now, no network affiliate would allow such a show unless it was a total set-up. A friend who watched later told me that if looks could kill, the ones I got from that Senator for the rest of the show would have made me a dead man. Gee, all I did was wave a print out of his bill, and say what was in it...

Yes - My ex and I were guests on the Oprah Winfrey show in the early 2000s. The show was about child prodigies, and it featured and ten-year-old artist, nhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Pocheptsovamed . We bought one of his paintings - my ex still has it, I believe.
I wasn't excited as my ex but it was an interesting experience. We were picked up by car in the morning and went right into make-up. The director prompted us with questions and outlined what/when we would have our turn. I will tell you the people in the audience gets up at the crack of dawn to attend that show and they are well dressed. We didn't get to meet her in person as we were whisked away back in the car right after the show.

Like Rockfan4, I was on our high school quiz team in grades 11 and 12. Three of us from one class were called to the office and asked if we wanted to compete. It was early '70s and I remember the studio lights being so incredibly hot. Three episodes.
About 10 years ago a crew arrived at the Tidal Power facility to do an episode for a show called Canada on the Edge or something like that. The worst part was standing at the edge of the water (it was March) trying not to freeze while answering their questions. They would shoot from one angle then do it all over again from a different perspective. It took about an hour and a half and was edited down to less than 10 minutes. Years after that I would have people in our tours suddenly interrupt with,"That's where I've seen you before. You were on that show. " ![]() Yes, and with that and 2 bucks I can get a cup of coffee. ![]() Best Les
