The 128 was nice. However, I believe the term when describing looks; Nice personality.

Okay, to you it's ugly. To me it's handsome.
My family's second car in 1971 was a two door SEAT 128 (Spanish FIAT). I adored that car. Probably because my 18 YO brother drove like a Group B rally driver whenever he'd take me to swim team practice.

Baring an Aztec being posted, I second the motion.

My ‘76 four door Nova. Green Metallic with the green Landau top, green interior. Hated that car but, got a cheap deal on it from my Grandparents.

Don’t have any digital pictures of it.

rwest 11-07-2023 12:48 PM

Oldsmobile Starefire- bought it for my winter beater. Ugly and had a broken driver’s door handle- also an automatic, but it got the job done.

Nah, the Aurora isn't that bad. The one pictured just needed some nice wheels.

We custom ordered it from the factory. It would lose power on the freeway and begin to buck like a bucking bronco. The only way to regain power was to turn on the heater full blast which somehow helped the situation.

It is amazing I never got rear ended or killed.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1699370876.jpg

LOL! i had a 1981 Olds Omega, same car. 2.5L Iron Duke motor (unless you had the 2.8L 60º V-6). I never had the problem you did. It would barely get out of its own way, and it blew the front seal on the tranny, otherwise slow, ugly, and relatively reliable appliance.

Ours didn't have a luggage rack, but otherwise looked like this one.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1699377520.jpg

My mom had a '78 Horizon. They had VW 1.7L motors/trans. When I was in college, I had an '80 Omni and an '81 Omni, both, also with the 1.7L VW motor.

I also had a Mercury Sable that looked pretty much like this one. I believe it was a 1988 or 89. It was a total piece of junk. Can't believe I paid money for it. My BIL, who was and still is a car dealer, talked me out of buying a late 80s Nissan Maxima for this POS. His logic: the Nissan has 70k on the clock, by the time you pay it off it will have well over 100k. Hmmm, just saw a similar Maxima last week and it was still going strong. Bad choice

^those taurus/sables^ were horrible. We never owned one, and there was a reason.

I've owned a few uglies. Not this specific car but same year and model Honda.

Also had a Dodge Omni for a spell.

I had the identical twin to this fugly thing. AMC Eagle

Another I'd rank up there was my 924. Always thought it was void of any style or character.

Dixie 11-07-2023 03:18 PM

Honestly, I'd appreciate if y'all would indicate if you bought your ugliest car, or your parents did?

I've got this theory it's not the car, but who did the deciding.

Scott Douglas 11-07-2023 03:20 PM

I've bought all my own cars.

Eric Hahl 11-07-2023 03:24 PM

"I bought mine" he said, as he hung his head low and slinked out the door.

I've had at least 30+ cars, bought all myself.

Ugliest is a 323 hatchback. Had it for month or 2, friends car died so I gave it to him just so I didn't have to drive it anymore. All of my ugly cars had tons of character. Dasher wagon with huge greenhouse, 63 VW crewcab pick-up I got for $275 now worth $60K and so on.

Yep, 924 was a low point for Porsche IMO.

The AWD AMCs like that were just ahead of their time. They'd probably sell like hotcakes today.

Nuff said.

We bought three of them one day at the car auction to flip. I think we made $500 a piece.

74 VW Thing.
Ugly.
Slow.
Cool!
Sorry no pics right now.

cassisrot 11-07-2023 07:26 PM

I didn’t own it, it was my Dad’s car. 1956 tricolor Hudson Hornet. The ugliest car ever!

I remember my daddy blew a gasket when I wanted to sell the B210 and buy a V8 Vega. No way was he going to allow me to be some hotrod floosy hanging out at discos. He had a plan for me, and I was to follow it.

I never got the Vega, but I'm proud to say I followed my plans, not his.

HobieMarty 11-10-2023 02:57 PM

Not mine but my sister had a Datsun 810 and I always thought it was the ugliest looking car. It did however have that smooth straight six from the Z car of the day making it kinda the predecessor to the Maxima.
Sis had the car for a year or so and then traded it for a 280ZX. I had my TR6 and she had her 280ZX, good times. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...b83be76322.jpg

Had a 78 Ranchero, was a terrible car and a terrible truck, had it 3 months, could not sell it quick enough.
400 V8 with a 2 barrel, no power, terrible gas mileage.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1699669518.jpg

Ugly overall, maybe from a mile away looks like an old front engine Indy roadster.
Thunder roadster, light, fun to drive, Hayabusa engine and best part a sequential motorcycle transmission.

'82 Ford Fairmont just like this one. Maroon vinyl interior. 6 cyl. with a 1-bbl carb.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1699688055.jpg

But it got me and 3 friends and our camping gear safely to (and from) the 1986 24 hrs. of Daytona to see Al Holbert win one of the most amazing and exciting 24s ever.

My 1st car was a 104 Peugeot, and surely the ugliest.
I bought it for 500 francs with the engine dismantled in the trunk, rebuilt it with my dad, and sold it for 1500 a few years later. It was 1978 model, same year as the 911 I still have.

Back in the day my buddy totaled his Vette. So he went to Baldwin-Motion in Long Island and got a conversion kit for the Vega.So we stuffed the V8 in the Vega shorten rear and everything needed to get the Vega on the road. Well, that didn't last long. A tree jumped in front of the Vega. Always wanted one, but for some reason never did.:D

mthomas58 11-20-2023 05:28 PM

1972 Ford Pinto. Very fugly and embarased to say that I bought it. A real piece of ****e!
