The White Collection up for sale - Wow

Although I believe cars should be driven, I have to say this is an impressive collection of Porsche's going up for sale by RM Southerby's Dec 1 (I think).

I have two favorites: 993 GT2 and 993 RSR, what's yours?

That's unreal. I love a well curated, well displayed collection like that.

Hard to pick a favorite, it seems like every special edition is represented.

It is a shame to break up that collection. No doubt it will bring a lot of money. I have my Grand Prix While 85 911, so none of them are for me. ;)

Tobra 11-08-2023 07:28 AM

I am in the market for another fun, daily driver

944 Turbo Cup, Martini 924, Martini 911, 1965 911 yeah

Like the Reutter body ones too.

Wait, that collection is in Houston? That is not good. How much would enclosed shipping be

Bob, you rat bastard

You're on Pelican. You're supposed to drive it back home.

Macroni 11-08-2023 11:24 AM

This is what happens when you lose a lawsuit.

Some amazing Porsches in the collection.

I'm sure it would piss a lot of people off and there's likely already contracts in place to guard against it but any guesses on what kind of number, one would have to approach the Owner with to cancel the auction and keep it all together?

Tobra 11-08-2023 11:45 AM

Actually, would drive any one of those cars home. New tires and fluids, off to the races

What is the lawsuit about?

vonsmog 11-08-2023 12:55 PM

I sold my all original 76' Targa to the guy who owns that collection. Then he tried to say I repainted the car to match the paint thickness to original. was quite the ass about it, and threatened to sue me. I said go ahead, as I knew it was right. Just watched part of the video and you can see my old Targa when he is doing the walk around the Targa section! Link to my car when I sold it here. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cars-sale/760929-fs-1976-911s-targa-must-seen-believe.html

I might get that Mod 07 steering wheel if I can get it for a song. :)

That’s a confusing lawsuit article? Anyway if it lets new people enjoy the cars I’m fine with it. I would guess around $20 - 30 million for the collection.

Here it is: https://rmsothebys.com/en/home/lots/wc23

But I would give them all away for the Ferrari 250 GTO they have for sale…

A guy can dream... my two picks.

I wonder how old those CN36 Pirellis are. I don't think they're still available new. Always wanted to put a set on one of my Opels.

Probably the architect did some 3d visualisations of some houses. The developer didn't want to pay the architect to modify the visualisations so did it themselves or got somebody else to do it cheaper. But the original artist owns the copyright and controls who is entitled to modify their work, and charge a new license for any additional usage not already licensed. So they sued the developer. The award is excessive, in my view, on a prima facie basis.

My thoughts too given the context that another damaged party received $14k.

Hopefully that 964 3.8 RSR gets some miles put on it.

As much as I believe cars should be driven....

That's a virgin, untouched, pure and original and they are not making more.

I would leave her the way she is unmolested and keep admiring her for posterity

They made two of those as road cars. Neither one has really been driven. So no one really knows what they're like. That's criminal.

There has to be some sort of mental illness that goes with not driving cars in a collection like that.

Yes, I know value goes down as miles go up, but clearly there is no shortage of money in this person’s life, so why care if value goes down a few thousand or few hundred thousand for that matter?
