I seldom use data on my phone and I've never seen a stand alone ad. If I did I'd wipe the phone.

Every month I get a listing and map of every store, restaurant, bar, and city that I have been in courtesy of Google.
The map is kind of cool....I forget how many miles I have added each month.

That looks like an ad supported flashlight app.

The native flashlight on/off is easily accessible by swiping down in the upper right corner which will produce this menu:

The flashlight icon will toggle it on/off.

Ditch the app and the ads will go with it.

The app came with the phone and I have been using it for years.
This is the first time I have seen an ad.

They may have tried to start monetizing it, so they are now showing display ads when you launch.

The short of it is, you don't need an app to access the flashlight.

Already went through that.
I resisted the almost unanimous city-counsel-mandated 'upgraded' water meter as long as I could.
$500 penalty plus $50/mo fine threats did me in.

They said it was the "same technology" as the old remote sender and is for "efficiency".
BS. It sends out usage continuously now instead of 3x per day.
The company proudly advertises "user profiles" and gets the data directly to distribute to the City and Homeowner's phone app.
Do they sell the citizen data? Two requests to the water department went ignored.

Water has gone up from $30/2 people with daily clothes washing and watering, a decade ago, to $50/1 person now. 3-5 times more.
My tenants were not even there most of the time so I was told.
A class-action for water rate fraud was tossed for 'no standing' because of changeover.
Meanwhile they dug up streets for all the new skyscrapers, and have a active Sec8 free subsidy program.

Found the app:
https://apps.apple.com/sg/app/flashlight/id404181268

You can pay the developer $7 to remove the ads or delete the app and use the native functionality for free.

Now I feel like an idiot.
I did a screen capture to show the money they wanted before I deleted it.
As I did this it purchased the app!
Now I need to figure out how to cancel it.

You can program your iPhone such that a double tap on the back of the phone turns the flashlight on/off. Not 100% functional if the phone is in an insulated i.e., thick case.

Send a message via AIM to stomachmonkey
On an iPhone if you want to turn on the Flashlight just say "Hey Siri, Lumos"

To turn it off "Nox"

Weird. My first smart phones were the G1 and G2 (Android, Google Phones, HTC made) and didn't have a flash for the camera, so the "flashlight" was an app that set the screen to full bright white. I think I may have used an aftermarket app then. But since I moved from Android to Apple, I don't think I've ever used any flashlight app other than the built in app.

Most iPhones for many years have had the flashlight on the lock screen. You can go right from the lock screen to use the flashlight. (also the camera)
