I would use that foam stuff - not the latex - the traditional. If they chew through that then you know exactly where the issue is. Don't be too liberal. That stuff expands like five times. (Not a professional)

I have a few right now. I can tell from droppings in the kitchen drawers. Its a farm house and its turning cold. You'll have that. I just need a 4 pack of traps, some peanut butter and a couple of days and the herd will be thinned.

Also, I'm a little chicken. I nudge the trap with the dead mouse and if it were to flinch my Rambo persona goes right out the door.
