Congrats. It happens I've known my wife for 38 years but only married for 26. I should have not avoided her for ten of those years.

I’ve known my wife since 3rd grade. We were good friends through our teens. We went separate ways after high school, but the first time we got together 4 years later…the sparks flew !!
We knew everything about each other and our families, so no surprises. She stood by and kept the home fires burning and raised our kids while I was in the army. An army wife is a strong woman !

Sobering thought is my wife of 35 years just left me. We simply grew apart in hobbies and interests. shrug

~30 years for us and we’ll probably end up separated. Same for us… grew apart and I’m tired of her ****. I’m ok with it.

Congratulations to you and the Mrs.

Matt, Congratulations on making it work. As my wife points out from time to time, we are the unicorns in today's society after 47 years of marriage.
I wonder if success in this endeavor can be summed up by a poem by Ogden Nash To keep the marriage brimming Within the loving cup When you're wrong, admit it And when you're right shut up I know it's not that simple. Kudos to you both. Best Les

Quote:
My Mom raised us in the cacophony of the 60's married to an Army Major and we all knew the drill. I still have the little reel-to-reel tapes my Dad sent us from Vietnam, just his voice on the recordings. What is clear listening to them is his love for my Mother and his gratitude and appreciation for: Her. He knew. As you know, the military is hard on relationships. Those that endure are forged. My wife and I were married for less than two months when I deployed for a year in 1990/1. I wish you both the best, Matt...38 years is a testimony to both of you.
