Cerakote ceramic trim coat
Inspired by the foam cannon thread, thought i’d mention the very best product I’ve found for faded plastic trim. Cerakote ceramic trim coat. I applied it to the acres of faded plastic on my daughter’s Honda Element well over a year ago, the car sits out in all weather and spent the summer in the mountains covered with dirt, and the plastic still looks dark black and satin-y.
So much better than the several days I used to get from trim “dressings”. I haven’t tried it on rubber, tires, etc. One piece of plastic trim on the E28 is very faded, probably a used replacement piece. I was going to spray it with plastic paint, but am going to use this stuff instead.

I bought back to black and it lasts about like you would expect Armor All to work.
Do you have a link to the specific product? TIA. |

This is the Cerakote product jyl is likely referring to. It was also mentioned on Rennlist in the 997 forum so I bought it off that big web site. Fantastic results so far on everything that I've applied it to on the plastic black exterior trim on my 997.

The box I bought had something like 15 wipes, each in a sealed packet. It was enough to do the Element and have a few left over. Maybe they’ve changed it to 10 large wipes.
You wash and dry the car first. Then follow the directions for applying. The coat goes on slightly sticky, then dries. After it is dry you can go over any area you missed. Use one wipe until it’s done for, then open the next packet. There may be more directions on the package, but I was pretty casual about it and results were great.
