I'll have a diet Coke with my supersized meal please. :D

I don't know why it is, but I've always liked McD's Diet Coke.
Any other fast food place...the Diet Coke tastes awful.

Every now and again I'll order 2 for $3 deal with a double cheeseburger, hold ketchup and mustard, add Mac sauce and shredded lettuce and a McChicken add tomato. It rings up around $4+ IIRC and is a tasty snack.

You can find videos explaining why on YouTube. There are real reasons.

Starbucks is one of the reasons my sister is 150lbs overweight, along with a lot of other Americans.

She thinks (or more correctly, has told herself) she is going to get coffee. What she is doing is mainlining sugar in a plastic cup.

This looks to be much the same.

GH85Carrera 12-14-2023 06:22 AM

I am just astonished how many small coffee shops keep popping up. There seems to always be a line of cars sitting and idling waiting in line to get expensive foo foo coffee. I just don't understand. I drink my coffee black. No sugar, not milk or "whitener" stuff. Just coffee, made at home for pennies per cup. It only cost a couple of bucks at the breakfast place we go to on Sunday mornings.

I guess I'm old, but I have not had a take out coffee in years and I have a cup everyday.
Or I don't get out much. lol

At least one critic isn't impressed.

I dont see any avocado or tomatillo. Egg ratio is way off. But how was it?

stevej37 12-28-2023 03:13 AM

The story/article that goes with the above pic.

LOL "CosMc’s Creamy Avocado Tomatillo Sandwich featuring more egg than anyone could be reasonably prepared for".

I agree. I still dont see a compelling reason to go there. Just give me a well made burger and fries.

40+ years ago, HOW did you change your burger order? All they had was burger, burger with cheese, bigger burger, bigger burger with cheese. WTF were you trying to do there if you changed that? Did you want exotic mushrooms put on it? Did you want toasted rye instead of the white bun? Did you want hand blended aioli instead of mayo??

If any of those random guesses were correct, then you probably want to go to CosMcs...

All this nonsense, and you are calling him a grouchy old man. Is it raining a lot there or something?

Brilliant.

40 year ago (when I visited McD's), I would order the burgers with no onions .... because I wanted a freshly made one... and I don't dislike onions either ;)

I don't do that no mo ... they all suck now :D ...

masraum 05-29-2025 11:38 AM

I can't remember the last time I went to a McDs. Maybe when we were packing/moving/downsizing about 11 years ago. We used to go once every 2-4 years. I would get the double quarter pounder with cheese. It wasn't a "good" burger, but it was decent for McDs. I'm far more likely to go to what I guess might be called "fast casual" today that blows McDs out of the water.

stevej37 05-29-2025 12:35 PM

It's been years since I've had one of their burgers.

I do stop once in a while for a breakfast sandwich to go. Sausage egg McMuffin is always good for on the road.

I actually stopped by for a regular egg McMuffin a few months back ... I used to really like them years ago. I didn't even finish it. I don't know what's changed ... I know I have ... but it sucked.

How can ya screw up a freakin' EMcM ... I dunno :(?

I think the cost of food at McD's is still very low. The only way that you can keep the cost that low is by serving "food" made from horrible ingredients. "how can we make it cheaper, and not immediately make people sick or kill them (long term death is fine)?"

That's how.

The last few times (again, 10 years ago is the most recent) time I tried hash brown patties or their French fries, they had a sour after taste. I assume the grease isn't getting changed often enough.

I've pretty much given up on fast food. There's a little country burger place up the road that we went to for a bit but have mostly stopped. They have good food that seems to be made from better than avg ingredients (for a fast food place). It's not as expensive as fast casual, but more expensive (I assume) than regular fast food chains.

KFC911 05-29-2025 04:21 PM

I don't do fast food either (anymore), but I did as a youngin' and actually liked it just fine ... I ain't that picky ;).

No mas... it was much better when it wasn't as fast...

SFBs .... I'm starting a chain of Slow Food Burgers :D

Before covid ... a local chain called Cook-Out was excellent for FF burgers, etc..... no mas.

stevej37 05-29-2025 04:47 PM

^^^ KFC is fast food?
I go there about once a year and always get the same thing.....chicken pot pie.

Delicious.

wdfifteen 05-29-2025 06:27 PM

Please don't complicate my life, McDs.
The only time I stop in is when I need a snack and a bathroom. You have great, clean bathrooms. I have even taken a 5hit in one of your bathrooms (major confession - who does that?).
I get a cheeseburger, small fries, and a medium diet Coke - every time. That's all I need. That's all I want. Cheeseburger, small fries, and a medium diet Coke - and a clean place to take a 5hit.
