Make Bruins Great Again

The Smothers Brothers Comedy show was considered on the radical cutting edge in the 60's.
One of my favorite memories was when The Who were on. The beginning is when he 'meets' the band and Keith says to Tommy "My friends call me 'Keith' but you can call me 'John' " At the end of the song they have a 'blowout' finish! It is not to be missed! If you've never seen it you will be blown away.

Thanks for sharing. That was funny.
All I could think about is what those guitars and amp would be worth today.

Tommy was a gem. I can't think of anyone like him or their act. I remember Glen Campbell hosting their summer show back in the day. All good stuff. Here's a typical routine, plus some talk about their cancellation from CBS:
This cracks me up. Total Tommy:

I was curious how Dick is doing these days, and it sounds like he's solid. Remarried in 2022, was planning a tour with Tommy in 2023 until Tommy's cancer appeared. I wish him well.

I was there crewing for Rex Ramsey:
LeGrand Mk 11 (Rex Ramsey): Raced by Rex Ramsey in late 1969, winning at Trois-Rivières in September, but well off the pace in the L&M series. Jim Paul raced the car in 1970, with a best result of eighth in the Pro race at Laguna Seca, and appeared a few times in 1971 and early 1972. To Keith Saunders (Albuquerque, NM) for SCCA racing later in 1972, then to Bill Swope (Albuquerque, NM) for 1973. Swope advertised it late 1975, and it seems likely that this was the LeGrand used by JB Walton in SCCA Regionals in Utah Region in 1978. The next time it was seen was when Harold Janke owned it in Nebraska in the late 1990s. To Kirk Severson and racing in historic events by 2001. To Marty Fidrich (Elisabeth, CO) by 2007. Credit: https://www.oldracingcars.com/f5000/results/us/1969/mont-tremblant/#note10 I saw Smothers around a lot, but the most fun was the Sunday evening Molson party where Garner and Smothers held center stage most of the night. Hobbs was a young gun and I'd have sworn that Brian Redman was there as well, but the statistics say otherwise. |

I remember watching the Beatles do 'Hey Jude' and 'Revolution' on the Smothers Bros. Show.
It was taped....but I was still in awe.
