The guy is strong. The female judge is no spring chicken and the guy pushed her around like a Doberman on a rabbit. She was shook up and not sure of the injuries. I hope she did not get a punch to the kisser as he would have laid her out.

Perp is in lower right of pic and both judge and baliff (law clerk?) knew intentions. 2nd pic is where the guy decided to save time rather than going around the judge's desk.

With his record....I'm surprised he wasn't cuffed.

At the end of the video...the bailiffs give him a well-deserved beat down.

sc_rufctr 01-04-2024 04:18 AM

I hope they lock him away for a very long time!

That big boy at 39 seconds in caused some swelling. He hit five times harder than the clerk. Hat's off to the clerk, though. He did not hesitate for a second to put himself in harms way.

stevej37 01-04-2024 04:27 AM

On the tv news this am, they said he was in court for his third felony charge.
He should get quite a few years after this incident. (I hope)

herr_oberst 01-04-2024 04:40 AM

Moral of the story; you name your boy Deobra, that boy is 'most likely going to learn to use fists at an early age.

(The law clerk was the big surprise of that whole episode!)

stevej37 01-04-2024 04:45 AM

^^^ I noticed that also...lol
I've been trying to figure out the pronunciation of it....I'd just call him Debra.:D

(If it was Dobra...I would get it.)

GH85Carrera 01-04-2024 06:38 AM

I bet on his next court date, he will be handcuffed, and shackled. I hope that judge gets to sentence him for the attack. Some people NEED to spend the rest of their life in prison away from normal people.

Superman 01-04-2024 06:48 AM

Third felony charge? And now...assaulting a superior court judge? I'll be surprised if this guy does not die in prison.

I'd be surprised if he does 10 years! That's our society today.

I was thinking Ban Island.
I hear there are a few still trapped there. :)

Redden has obvious mental health issues.

This doesn't excuse any lack of civility and/or adherence to societal structure.

Our judicial system is very flawed and this includes our mental health system and how we manage persons like this.

No system is without it's flaws but unfortunately politics will always be a burden to resolving many of these flaws.....

I'll give him high marks for athleticism.
The other guy should take some Socrates to heart: “No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.”

There is an island even closer than that. Hart Island. That would e a good place for him.

Paul T 01-04-2024 09:39 AM

If he didn’t like that sentence, wait till he sees his new improved one!

He went over the desk like he had springs in his shoes...lol
And I'm not sure but it looked as though there was a railing before the desk that he had to jump also.

I read that he was in custody when he appeared. Ok but if there is no jury present then why the civilian clothes?

Here if you are getting sentenced and in custody you are in orange scrubs, cuffed and shackled. I saw a sentencing today in felony court, defendant out on bond in front of judge in clothes w/o cuffs. No problem but deputies w/i arms length of him. Of course, I was there in case then needed backup.

This will not end well for him.

I agree

matthewb0051 01-04-2024 10:23 AM

December 2022, I had a felony case in midst of sentencing plea. Judge ordered client to go to the cells and take a pee test to establish baseline number. He couldn't, didn't, wouldn't, stage fright or whatever.

When he came out he made a B line for the outer doors. I heard judge say, "where's he going". I looked up and saw him heading out. About the time he got to the double doors, judge said, "well that's it".

I caught him in the hallway and asked him where the F he thought he was going.

We went back inside. Judge honored the plea deal, BUT ordered him to jail pending the drug evaluation that was part of the plea deal. 18yo

Up on lesser charges is the Judge's hair-dresser.

What's really messed up is that he wasn't remanded during that hearing. He was supposed to show up in court yesterday (Thursday) and from what I've read/heard he failed to appear.

stevej37 01-05-2024 08:11 AM

^^^ You're saying that after he attacked the Judge, he was allowed to walk out the courtroom free?

Incredible, but I guess I'm not surprised.

No, he was out on bail when he came back to court for the sentencing. He is indeed in jail now, and facing a new list of charges.

otto_kretschmer 01-05-2024 08:06 PM

I think he is still out on bail.......

Redden failed to arrive for his initial court appearance for the new charges Thursday and is scheduled to be in court on Jan. 9 in front of Judge Diana Sullivan.

His time in front of Holthus isn’t over as the two are scheduled to meet again on Jan. 8 for the initial sentencing hearing, according to the outlet.

Is it reasonable to assume that the banshee screaming, "Stop! Y'all Stop!" is his loving momma or some family member?

Did she really think that would make them stop?

Steve Carlton 01-06-2024 05:13 AM

He's not out on bail. He never met his $54,000 bail (which would have taken $8,100 to get).

At the sentencing hearing, Redden wasn't shackled or in jail garb because he had been released from custody as part of a deal with prosecutors, in which he pleaded guilty in November to a reduced charge of attempted battery resulting in substantial injuries. He was initially charged in the baseball bat attack with assault with a deadly weapon, court records show.

https://abc7chicago.com/las-vegas-judge-attacked-courtroom-video-deobra-delone-redden/14278251/

When he refused to appear after the courtroom attack, it was from jail. Redden has 3 felony convictions already. I think he'll be in prison for a long time now.

There's a large, deep gash in a marshal's forehead that took 25 stitches from that scuffle and he dislocated his shoulder (because he tripped). The judge had some of her hair torn out, too.

Cairo94507 01-06-2024 05:55 AM

I hope he gets at least 15 years actual time. Society needs to stop allowing these multiple felony conviction thugs to go free after hardly any time; lock them up until they are no longer able to be a threat to anyone.

It's a small percentage of society and they use the courts and require police intervention on a non-stop basis- just stupid. They ruin everyone else's peaceful lives.
