This time you ARE being asked for your OPINION !

Hey Fellas.....

Soooo I've been looking for a quick project to do after, completing quite a few small projects on my C230 Kompressor.
  • I learned how to repair leather that was fun and am pretty happy with results.
  • I fixed a door pull with a genius idea from a guy on YOUTUBE
  • I added 12mm spacers to the rear rims and filled out the gap pretty nicely.
  • I replaced some fog light bulbs
  • I fixed an annoying rear window shade
  • I refurbished shift knob, pretty happy with results.
  • I polished my headlights to new with some wet sanding and compound.

I've decided to possibly paint my stock rims..........

This is where I'm asking for some help/suggestions on the color to consider.......

I'd like some ideas or options I might be missing as I'm not to thrilled with the options I've seen.

Any photo shop gurus out there? I've provided a picture to use.

I've kinda played with the idea of a "gun metal gray" with clear.

The issue I'm fighting with is finding a color that would go with the color of the car....... not to thrilled with the idea of black rims on that car, matte, satin, or gloss black, none.

Needs some ideas.......

Oh and this is going to be a DIY project....... so paint needs to be readily available.

Herr....

Thanks for the pix, wow on the Fotoshop!

I like your suggestions with the lighter colors and I did think of that too BUT it looks pretty close to the factory finish they come with so as much as I like it, I gotta pass.

Not liking the yellow' too much.

Is the last picture the rims color matched to the body ? I hadn't thought of that and I don't dislike the idea...... I think that's a strong maybe.

Can whip up a gun metal metallic gray ?

Copy the gray used on Mustang "Bullett" wheels...kind of a fake torque thrusts look. Leave the outer wheel rim shiny.
(edit) I think Ford calls the color "Argent gray".

I think the charcoal gray might be a bit too dark.... not what I had in mind.

This is the struggle

How about a copper or rose gold type color and maybe get creative and make one leg body color and the others a bolder color? Or a stripe of red or something? You can easily experiment with a colored stripe using colored electrical tape.

Rutager.....

I see where you are going with the idea.... BUT......

I'd like to stay more subtle and certainly don't want attention in a older C230.......

I'd like to stay in just a nice, clean, older well kept car.....

It's bone stock with the only mod's being much wider tires than stock tires and subtle spacers to fill out the wheel wells that it.

Soooo you can see where the indecision is.........

Maybe I just leave it the way it is..... I've been looking for ideas for weeks now.....

Last resort was the brain trust here... you guys ALWAYS have the answers.........

Darker grey, and tone down the chrome front grill with the same color as wheels.....

If you use plasticdip, you can peel it off if you don't like. https://www.dipyourcar.com/collections/wheel-kits/color-colorshift

Gold goes well with green, not grey (imo).

If you desperately want to look like a tool you might as well go full send - and go orange.
Or be more subtle and stick with black…
Or - my choice - leave them alone and consider a stereo upgrade.

I like a darker gray, like a gunmetal or charcoal. Though the gold looks pretty cool. Not glitzy, an understated cool.

Agree. I think the stock wheels as-is are hard to beat.

This ^

The body color is a nice, deep silver that would look great on the wheels.
