Anybody lose a window?
Window in an airplane blows out after takeoff. That had to be exciting.

Probably better than 30,000 feet.
|
looks like a little more than a window.
|
This is why you want your seat belt on during takeoff.
|
They were at 16k and pressurized. Lucky no one got blown out.
Its an entire emergency exit door. |
|
People pay good money for thrills like that!

I’m confused, was this a door that would exist on cargo models, but is covered on the passenger planes with a plug? Did the entire emergency exist door pop out, frame included? EDIT: evidently it’s an optional door depending on the seating configuration
Way to go with that 737 max Boeing. *golf clap* |
I read where they stated it was a Boeing 737 Max 9
Are these the same Max's that had the big problem a few years back? |
Anyone know the torque spec for the door plug? Any Boeing closures engineers here?
Taking an Alaska flight in a couple of weeks. Just wonder if I should pack my torque wrench! |
Excuse me stewardess can I have an extra blanket 😋 . Man that is scary .
|
Its scary but these planes are TOUGH. Reminded of the one the 80s over Hawaii where they lost the front 1/3 of the roof.

They tucked 2 larger motors under the wings of the existing airframe, then built compensating systems around it instead of creating a completely new airplane. |
I read a couple articles where they said it was a plug, not an emergency, exit, like over a wing.
Remember a while back, when a window blew out, and the lady sitting next to it got sucked out. If I recall correctly, she pretty much got beat up along the outside of a plane from the waist up, due to the wind stream. What a terrible way to go |
^^^ HD
Thanks...I was reading more about it when I came across this.... A few paragraphs down they talk about the Max 8 and 9 https://www.yahoo.com/news/boeing-still-hasnt-fixed-problem-224020605.html |
It was a "plug" in the sense that its a sealed exit that used on some airlines with higher capacity than Alaska specs their planes. On Alaska, its "sealed" with no interior access. Somehow it blew out.
And yeah, they were lucky. The other incident 930 referred to was the SW that had an engine come apart over Philly, debris took out a window and yes, the passenger got sucked partway out and beat to death. |
Losing it is one thing, I’d sure hate to find it buried in my rafters or through my windshield.
Where did it land? |
Is there a craigslist ad yet?
