Wow something’s going around

I haven’t been this sick years. In fact, I remember one time being this sick. Only got off the couch a few times to walk the dog and drink some chocolate milk

Weak and pain everywhere.

HardDrive 01-06-2024 07:47 PM

Better now, but I was pretty sick for 4-5 days after Christmas. Lungs still chunky.

HobieMarty 01-06-2024 08:08 PM

Feel better. The week before Christmas I had a temp of 102, went to the Dr, tested negative for covid and the flu but the Dr thought my symptoms were definitely the flu, kept me out of work and prescribed meds. I had zero energy the first couple of days and no appetite either. I had some body aches and felt pretty much like junk for a week. Thank goodness we have been off work for 2 weeks for our winter shutdown because I have had good days where I will get some things done but then I have still had days where I an just tired and want to nap all day. Definitely a strange illness going around for sure.

That’s it. It sounds like what I have.

look 171 01-06-2024 09:12 PM

Knocked me out of commission for two days. By the third day, my younger one got it and he was out of commission for couple days but bounced back quickly. Me, I was weak and out of energy for another few days after. Gained my strength back just about 100% after that (been riding my bike) but this killer cough kept me from getting real rest at night. Its been three weeks, I can't seem to shake the cough. My wife and my older kid, both made of steel. Nothing.

Crowbob 01-06-2024 09:26 PM

I've been coughing since the day before Thanksgiving.

LWJ 01-06-2024 09:29 PM

I was in New Zealand in October-November. Seemed like half the country was sick. Wife and I grabbed a case of Covid. Much better now. Lots and lots of sick people everywhere.

sc_rufctr 01-06-2024 09:59 PM

I was sick for what seemed like weeks. I got better just before Christmas but I've now relapsed.

Awful no energy feeling. Aches and pains. Loss of appetite. :(

ramonesfreak 01-07-2024 01:51 AM

Wife has been sick since New Year’s Day and unable to work. Never seen her stay home from work ever. Negative for Covid. Fever 6 days, constant cough. Somehow I am not sick yet. She going to urgent care this morning.

unclebilly 01-07-2024 02:08 AM

So…have you done a Covid test?

ramonesfreak 01-07-2024 02:48 AM

She did. Twice negative. I didn’t test myself. Ran out of tests. I was thinking she had Covid and maybe I did too but just without symptoms but since she tested negative twice, doesn’t seem she has it. We visited some friends with a 1 year old at new years who was coughing and the day before she brought an elderly neighbor some food who was very sick….im guessing she got something from one of them. Why I’m not sick is a mystery because working from home for 3 years, my immune system is probably not strong. I would assume if I were going to get sick I would see symptoms by now.

ramonesfreak 01-07-2024 02:49 AM

Her voice is also gone…talks in a whisper the last few days…..this has been sorta nice lol

stevej37 01-07-2024 04:15 AM

I haven't had it yet...a few friends here have had what sounds similar to above.

I had my flu and pneumonia shot a couple months ago, but no covid shot.

Shaun @ Tru6 01-07-2024 04:28 AM

got a cold or flu yesterday. Nyquil, Pedialyte (Gatorlyte is probably better but hard to find) and feeling a little better today. Doesn't feel like covid. Snowy day so staying in. The thing I like about being sick now is it's easy to lose a few Thanksgiving & Christmas pounds.

Gatorlyte Rapid Rehydration Electrolyte Beverage, Mixed Berry, 20oz Bottles (12 Pack)

Gatorlyte Rapid Rehydration Electrolyte Beverage, 3 Flavor Variety Pack, 20 Fl Oz (Pack of 12)

Showing both of the above products available and can be delivered to me tomorrow.....

You are a bad man.

craigster59 01-07-2024 06:31 AM

There's been a lot of it going around here in LA. People tell me it is some of the worst symptoms, mostly respiratory. I was reading that many are experiencing long recovery times and some blaming it as another symptom of "Long Covid".

My Wife showed me on The Weather Channel app that you can access a map that you can track the outbreak in your area, both A and B strains.

Cairo94507 01-07-2024 07:18 AM

Yeah, I was sick for 6 weeks despite being triple vaccinated! My wife, who never gets sick, was sick for about 3 weeks- she did not get vaccinated this time around. I am 68 and have respiratory issues so this really hit me hard. I still believe, (no proof) this was China's plan to knock the USA down.

hcoles 01-07-2024 07:25 AM

I wonder if it is RSV that has been going around.
I have all the shots. Let's hope that works.
No fun being sick.

gregpark 01-07-2024 11:49 AM

I just came down with what feels like a nasty cold. I hardly ever get sick, last time was well before the "pandemic". You don't appreciate your health until its gone. It sucks being sick. I don't have time for this crap

Zeke 01-07-2024 01:34 PM

I'm still wearing a mask at the store and any other place where there are a lot of people. I really, really don't want to get sick. Never got Covid 19 or any of the next generations. But I've been sick before and it sucks balls.

Hope you guys get through this w/o much trouble.

Yep, RSV is what hospitals are worry about. That's going around. My mom jsut got out of the hospital couple days ago from a cold that turned into pneumonia. First thing they check was Covid then RSV, both neg. She was in there for 5 days, after the first day of drip antibiotic, the next morning, she was back to normal eating well but man, that cough. She's still coughing and finishing up her meds. This flu is horrible. I still have a bit of cough but much better now. Crazy windy today, my boy and I braved the cold and put in 40 miles on the bike.

sc_rufctr 01-07-2024 03:34 PM

RSV - Respiratory Syncytial Virus!

Meanwhile I now also have lower back pain/ache for no apparent reason. This thing really sucks :(

I know. My wife and I are opposites. I’m VERY quiet. She talks…a lot.

Anyway urgent care said not flue, not strep, not covid, not bacterial….thats all they could say. Amazing I’m not sick. We still share the same tooth paste and I’m fine. She still has a fever almost a week later. Odd

A930Rocket 01-07-2024 04:25 PM

My boss was out for about two weeks with something. When he did come back, it sounded like he was coughing up a lung, in our ops meeting.

You are falling apart. You pull something while riding?
Last time that happened to me was when I went to flush the toilet. something was not right after that then my lower back ache started few hours later. I couldn't bend to pick up my shoe. Saw doc few days later and he ask if I have shooting pain down my leg. Nope. Gave me some muscle relaxer and it went away after two days. My back is good and has been since. Frightening how things can go bad in an instance. My buddy sneezed and he tried to hold it because he was at the market. Blew out his back. He was down right there and then. His wife and I had to go get his sorry ass.

Feel better soon

Bill Douglas 01-07-2024 04:47 PM

Sounds horrible. Good luck with getting better guys!

911boost 01-07-2024 10:35 PM

My sisters youngest brought the nasty cold to the holidays, he’s 11 and they thought it was allergies at first.
Knocked a majority of us out, I was down for 3-4 days.

Good times, she thinks it was RSV.

ramonesfreak 01-09-2024 05:09 AM

I finally got it from my wife. Its terrible.

john70t 01-09-2024 07:04 AM

Got it before Thanksgiving and it knocked me out for three days.
Shivering in bed, night sweats with bathroom every couple of hours, no sleep, my scalp ached.
VitC and water if you get it. Hopefully not.

ramonesfreak 01-31-2024 12:06 PM

Wife still coughing since getting sick on Jan 2. I got it a week later and am still sick. Coughing all day, all night. As of today, I have fluid in lungs. Guessing developing into pneumonia. Whatever this is, I’ve never experienced an illness quite like this. I’ve certainly been sicker but not for this long.

3rd_gear_Ted 01-31-2024 12:24 PM

^^^^ Get one of those Blood O2 level sensors that go on your fingertip and get some info from your body you can track.

MBAtarga 01-31-2024 12:55 PM

I've just had the bad cough starting 2 Sundays ago. Today is day 17 - but the last few days the cough has been less frequent. Days 4-8 or so were the worst. Went to a Doc in a Box early last week (around day 8) - and testing was negative for flu and covid - told me upper respiratory infection was going around. Then my wife starting coughing mid-week last week and it's still going strong with her.

Cloggie 01-31-2024 01:26 PM

I had a severe bug just after Christmas - not Covid according to test.

Severe headache, chest cough but no nasal infection. Worst part was 3 days of vomiting and diarrhea any time anything entered my stomach, could not even take a Tylenol for the headache. Dry heaves every hour on the hour.

Cleared up but had fatigue for a week or so after....much worse than Covid, which I have had twice....

D.

I have one. Was planning to check it this afternoon and forgot so thanks

gacook 01-31-2024 01:44 PM

I got what felt like a severe sinus infection mixed with flu-like symptoms a couple weeks before Christmas. It was weird. Achy all over and extreme pressure in my head. Hot/cold. Went away after 2 days, never really developed a noticeable fever. No cough.

I basically never get sick. This was weird. Wife didn't catch whatever it was.

ckissick 01-31-2024 03:56 PM

FWIW, I haven't heard about anything going around here in the SF Bay Area. That doesn't mean it isn't; I just haven't heard anything, like I often do when something is going around.

rfuerst911sc 01-31-2024 03:59 PM

My MIL is in an assisted living facility near us . About two weeks ago my wife visited her mom . The front desk let my wife know some kind of bug/flu was running through the facility . Two days later my wife starts projectile vomiting ! It lasted for two + days . She was one sick puppy . My MIL never got it . That is the sickest my wife has been in over 20 years !!!

gduke2010 01-31-2024 05:42 PM

It took me 3 weeks to fully recover. The first day was a Saturday, I spent the whole day in bed. The rest of the weekend, had bronchitis. Stayed home from work on Monday to rest. I went back on Tuesday still sick and could barely walk 2 flights of stairs without losing my breath. Felt better toward the end of the week but, still a bit weak with a cough. So, gradually, improved and felt fully recovered after 3 weeks.
