Cool Cars Of The Price Is Right.
Never knew they had prizes like a new "Jag-war", and here I thought they only gave away Vegas and Pintos.

I forgot about the time "California Emissions" was a thing.

Yes and I think it's funny that they list that as an option.

I had no idea they offered to give away a "Porsh" so many times.

Well, it was. In my teens and twenties every car I owned didn't have the CA emission option. It's also why you could get a manual trans '81 Corvette in SC, but not on CA.

^^^ I know that California had more strict emissions regulations and so the vehicles sold there would have been outfitted with "California emissions" but it just seems funny to me that is was considered and "option", like hey, pay extra for this option that will choke out the performance of your new car with "California emissions", you'll help with the smog pollution problem and you'll love it!!!
What exactly is added to the vehicle to constitute "California emissions" anyway? Sent from my SM-S916U using Tapatalk

Typically, CA spec engines had leaner carb jetting characteristics, distributors with an altered advance curve (less advance at lower rpms), and initial timing closer to TDC. At times additional components were needed to meet CA standards. For example, 75-79 California Corvettes required the addition of air injection pumps.

Yes step right up folks and check the box for the option that reduces emissions while robbing performance from the engine, ah yeah, the good old days.
When I had my 1976 TR6 I also had a parts car that was a 1973 model. The 76 had stricter emissions with the EGR stuff so I swapped out the intake and exhaust manifolds with those from the 73 and plugged off the smog stuff. Sent from my SM-S916U using Tapatalk
