And now there's no room for Andretti to come to F2 and F3 . Hmmmmmm............

Speaking of F1 helmets.

I am happy Danny Ric had a solid points result in the sprint race . Yuki dug deep for his result . Hulk just clicking off the points . K Mag had his elbows out against Hammy . Tough track to make a pass . Hopefully qualifying can shake things up .

WPOZZZ 05-04-2024 02:00 PM

Best quote so far from Miami. "Lando has gone soft...not Lando himself, but his tyres."

rfuerst911sc 05-04-2024 02:07 PM

I am quite impressed with Piastri . With half the updates that Norris has Piastri is right there with him . Max doing what Max does . Hulk just wringing the neck out of the Haas . Danny Ric WTF ????

astrochex 05-04-2024 03:38 PM

Yea, where has that Danny Ric been?

Perhaps the race may be competitive tomorrow. At least for longer than usual.

Unfortunately Danny Ric starts the race tomorrow in last place . His qually was horrible . Then add the 3 spot grid penalty . Not good .

Paul K 05-05-2024 12:46 PM

Do you have a link to watch the race live online? ESPN isn’t carrying it & we don’t have ABC.

oldE 05-05-2024 12:50 PM

Go to F1.com
It's about $80 /year and worth it.

Best

Sadly it doesn’t work down here. Thanks though.

herr_oberst 05-05-2024 03:02 PM

Is it a "Drive to Survive" thing? Are there no "F-Bomb" filters in the brain when speaking to a reporter live on TV after a win?

I'm not against a good curse.
I do it often.
Just not a fan of "f•••" becoming an everyday part of the public lexicon

I'm getting old, and yes, even the music is 'getting too loud'. I never thought that would happen.

Scott Douglas 05-05-2024 03:15 PM

I'm with you @herr_oberst. I feel sorry for the people who can't seem to express themselves any other way than to swear, especially in situations like that. If I were Zak Brown I'd be having a private conversation with Lando and let him know that's not acceptable for anyone representing our team in public.

GH85Carrera 05-05-2024 04:15 PM

It was a good race to watch. And yea, the F-bomb is just unnecessary for any broadcast event. I have used it in conversations with guys for many years, but I can tun it off when in public or in polite company.

Max did not win while in the race for the first time in 20 races.

Zeke 05-05-2024 04:49 PM

Not interested enough to watch even though it was on broadcast TV. Sorry that wasn't available for Paul K in the VI. I did watch the YT recap as I usually do. so I missed the remark; just as well.

Good on Noris though for staying ahead. Nice to see someone but RB win. That's why I dropped out to begin with.

rfuerst911sc 05-06-2024 04:05 AM

K Mag only 2 penalty points away from a race ban .

This is how close Checko came to taking out Max.

That was such a poor move and showing on his part that I understand the criticism of his occupying the seat. It might be time for RB to start culturing Max's replacement. No doubt he will retire at some point. If he gets 8 championships I think he's as good as gone. Perez won't at that time be anywhere near capable.

Deschodt 05-06-2024 07:57 AM

Penalty for Sainz ? I mean Piastri took him right out of the track the lap before, so he tries harder and slightly slides the rear in the process, IMO total racing circumstances. If you watched Indy at Barber where people were not penalized for completely nerfing other drivers, this is funny. There has to be a middleground somewhere..

Apparently Lando has an orange "lucky charm" now, ugh. Also how insufferable will Zack Brown become now?

I really Like Vasseur. He's calm, funny, and he's enough of a sportsman to be happy for Lando. You would not see Horner celebrate with Mercedes ;-)

And Hamilton skates on what should have been a penalty, because he is Hamilton and British.

Yeah, I'm not in agreement with that penalty, either. That wasn't perfect racing, but that was hard racing that wasn't unfair or reckless.

Should Checo be absolved of any guilt (penalty) for his lock up in T1 just because the other surrounding drivers were lucky/clever enough to avoid turning into him and making contact? Wasn't that even more egregious a mistake than Sainz', yet no penalty to Checo because the Ferraris were aware enough not to crash into him?

Rtrorkt 05-07-2024 07:39 AM

VerJust got back from Miami. Was posted at turn 15.5 which is where hit the bollard. NOR was pushing him pretty hard the lap before and VER made a mistake in 14 that pointed him right at the bollard, he hit it full on and damaged the aero for sure and maybe the undertray. Carried it to turn 16. 14, 15 were two of the most important corners on the track leading to the long back straight. Not sure NOR would have passed him without the bollard incident, but his relentless pushing on VER made it happen.

At least from the marshals, his win was very popular.

3rd_gear_Ted 05-07-2024 08:11 AM

Nico got a great start, but lack of race pace got him picked off over time.
Hope he gets a win some day, 209 F1 races and counting

Totally... NOR got lucky 3 times - with the bollard and ensuing damage to Max, and then the safety car from KMag (who was acting like a motorcycle gang member). Then cherry on top, the safety car missed picking him up and got VER instead affording Lando a 30 sec gap or so for a free pit stop.
But he had the speed as he showed later (despite a damaged redbull) and he would have won a couple races by now if not for sheer back luck (Sochi, and was it Monza where he was not allowed to pass ricciardo?).

To me that was definitely a bit lucky but also fully deserved...he's talented.

Will be interesting to see how that upgrade delivers for the rest of the season ! My only issue is for some reason I do not like Zack Brown (strikes me as a car/carpet salesman) and he's gonna be insufferable if they start winning ;)

Williams has announced they have signed Alex Albon to a long term contract . Good move for both parties .

I just read an article that F1 management is open to the idea of the 2030 regulations to allow going back to V8 engines . I hope that's more than lip service .

I think its a real possibility, talked to someone that is part of the meetings discussing 2030, hydrogen seems like the preferred fuel

Aiming for more noise too...

That's funny!

I was chuckling this past weekend watching the WEC race when the commentators said no tire warmers and you can't leave the
tires out in the sun to warm :):):)

I really enjoyed watching all three qualy sessions . Lots of pace from many teams . Congrats to the pole winner .

Imola

The racing is getting better !!

stealthn 05-19-2024 01:31 PM

Now if we only had 5 more laps… lol

Dull race except for the last few laps, congrats to the top three.

917_Langheck 05-20-2024 06:02 AM

Wish F1 would let BOZZY shoot that race. He has much better camera angles and audio. (It was nice not to be screamed at by the missing mouth; more of that please.)

Tamburello chicane needs to be more like old Hockenheim, then a pass at the end would be easier.

Yea, I missed Crofty yelling almost as much as bad migraine. More Bozzy announcing!

Not a chance. F1 is the worst commercial racing series ever. What would fix it is to have much wider tracks so that driving techniques could be better employed. These cars have outgrown present day facilities. Monaco is the pinnacle of futility.

A real race at Monaco would put these drives in Super Karts. That scale of car, speeds and available track would be near perfect.

COA is an example of the direction that F1 needs to look at. No more silly street races. No more circuses. However, my views are not that of today's face fan. I come from an era of CanAm and USAC where the cars and drivers were actually unique from one another.

Captain Ahab Jr 05-20-2024 12:12 PM

Zeke, always enjoy your thoughtful posts and agree 100% the cars have out grown the circuits but I'd go a step further and make F1 cars both smaller and lighter

Think the penny has finally dropped with the FIA too...

https://racingnews365.com/revealed-new-f1-rules-are-going-to-make-for-smaller-and-lighter-formula-1-cars

GH85Carrera 05-20-2024 01:24 PM

Yea, just like street cars, more components and complexity make the size of the car get bigger.

Keep all the safety improvements, eliminate the hybrid engines and go to a single ICE engine. And if the transmission can be smaller as a manual shifter, get rid of the paddle shifting. And way fewer electronic monitors and crazy complex steering wheel modes.

Yeah. It’d be fun to see them all race Monaco in shifter carts. All prepped same. Draw car out of a bag and race. Great idea.
