Should Checo be absolved of any guilt (penalty) for his lock up in T1 just because the other surrounding drivers were lucky/clever enough to avoid turning into him and making contact? Wasn't that even more egregious a mistake than Sainz', yet no penalty to Checo because the Ferraris were aware enough not to crash into him? |
VerJust got back from Miami. Was posted at turn 15.5 which is where hit the bollard. NOR was pushing him pretty hard the lap before and VER made a mistake in 14 that pointed him right at the bollard, he hit it full on and damaged the aero for sure and maybe the undertray. Carried it to turn 16. 14, 15 were two of the most important corners on the track leading to the long back straight. Not sure NOR would have passed him without the bollard incident, but his relentless pushing on VER made it happen.
At least from the marshals, his win was very popular. |
Nico got a great start, but lack of race pace got him picked off over time.
Hope he gets a win some day, 209 F1 races and counting |

But he had the speed as he showed later (despite a damaged redbull) and he would have won a couple races by now if not for sheer back luck (Sochi, and was it Monza where he was not allowed to pass ricciardo?). To me that was definitely a bit lucky but also fully deserved...he's talented. Will be interesting to see how that upgrade delivers for the rest of the season ! My only issue is for some reason I do not like Zack Brown (strikes me as a car/carpet salesman) and he's gonna be insufferable if they start winning ;) |
Williams has announced they have signed Alex Albon to a long term contract . Good move for both parties .
I just read an article that F1 management is open to the idea of the 2030 regulations to allow going back to V8 engines . I hope that's more than lip service . |

Aiming for more noise too... https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/f1-ready-to-consider-different-engines-from-2030-in-push-for-more-noise/10611063/ |
Please bring back the NA V10 and unlimited testing!

That's funny!
I was chuckling this past weekend watching the WEC race when the commentators said no tire warmers and you can't leave the tires out in the sun to warm :):):) |

I really enjoyed watching all three qualy sessions . Lots of pace from many teams . Congrats to the pole winner .

Imola
The racing is getting better !!
|
Now if we only had 5 more laps… lol
Dull race except for the last few laps, congrats to the top three. |
Wish F1 would let BOZZY shoot that race. He has much better camera angles and audio. (It was nice not to be screamed at by the missing mouth; more of that please.)
Tamburello chicane needs to be more like old Hockenheim, then a pass at the end would be easier. |

A real race at Monaco would put these drives in Super Karts. That scale of car, speeds and available track would be near perfect. COA is an example of the direction that F1 needs to look at. No more silly street races. No more circuses. However, my views are not that of today's face fan. I come from an era of CanAm and USAC where the cars and drivers were actually unique from one another. |
Zeke, always enjoy your thoughtful posts and agree 100% the cars have out grown the circuits but I'd go a step further and make F1 cars both smaller and lighter
Think the penny has finally dropped with the FIA too... https://racingnews365.com/revealed-new-f1-rules-are-going-to-make-for-smaller-and-lighter-formula-1-cars |
Yea, just like street cars, more components and complexity make the size of the car get bigger.
Keep all the safety improvements, eliminate the hybrid engines and go to a single ICE engine. And if the transmission can be smaller as a manual shifter, get rid of the paddle shifting. And way fewer electronic monitors and crazy complex steering wheel modes. |
