Shades of Michael Schumacher's moment of madness at Jerez 1997

Maybe Max should sit one out. He still has a huge lead in the championship but this is F1 not NASCAR.

Wow, I thought it was going to be another boring Max win, but was I wrong…

Max showed his BS driving style once again, a small time penalty is not enough imho.

Congrats to the winner, Haas team as well!

Funny. With about 20 laps to go, my 10-yr-old asked me to sit next to him to watch the race with him. He asked me to commentate along the way. (I do that for him while we're watching futbol--the Euros and Copa America--making snide remarks about the players, and he thinks it's hilarious.) So I put on my sports commentator voice and narrated the events. I noted how Lando was catching up to Max. He asked me, "How's it going to end up?" I told him it would end in tears, and that George would sweep through for the win. And then we watched exactly that unfold. Now he thinks I'm an expert and should do it for a living. :D

No doubt, you could do a better job than "Crofty". I did not miss him at all in today's announcing booth.

10 seconds for causing an accident was meaningless and completely ignored the fact that it was simply the culmination of 4 or 5 laps of multiple moves in the braking zone. 10 seconds wasn't even a slap on the wrist.

Alpine is adding to their team. According to this BBC article the principal aero guy from Red Bull (guess worked under Newey), vehicle performance team leader also from Red Bull and head of sim for Ferrari have joined Alpine. Someone smarter than me can tell me what this means to Red Bull. Seems like Zak's comment from earlier in the year when he said RB folks would be jumping ship is coming true.

Just like winning game teams in games involving a ball, football, basketball and others. I don't call them sports teams when it is just a game children play with a ball, played by overpaid adults.

A winning team have the coaches and poached by other teams. It is hard to impossible to keep those employees when they want to make more money, and move up in the team.

^^^ Not much different from any other line of work really.
The only loyalty is to the wallet or the potential of fame.

Rtrorkt 07-03-2024 06:42 AM

I agree with GH85 and URY, however in this case these guys are leaving a proven winning team to join a team that is struggling. McLaren is a good example of how long it takes to climb back in contention. Interesting to know if Horner is the source of the discontent in the RB team. Will be interesting to see if race day set ups suffer with those guys gone.

Maybe we see more whiny Max in the upcoming since there appears to be teams to challenge

^Ugh, that is why I will never be a fan of his. I will never hold to a hit the other car first mentality. Its cowardly. If you are so fast, why not just do the work and repass?

Max did nothing wrong...Lando was the aggressor, he tryed many ill thought out lunges and paid the price...Lando is desperate for wins and has been acting like somone stole his candy...

Rtrorkt 07-04-2024 02:25 PM

gumby, you must have been watching a different race. Max turned left rather than right. He owes Land an apology and should be docked championship points for not acting like a champion.

And of course Lando was the agressor, he was trying to pass a slower car making multiple moves under braking, which is also against the sporting regulations

Reg 07-04-2024 06:34 PM

Should be a good Silverstone!

I drove around circuit Gilles Villeneuve on Sunday. I didn’t know it was open road but was pleasantly surprised. I could not believe how tight it was. Granted it was 30km limit and divided for bicycle lanes I was very impressed to know just how fast the F1 cars travelled the narrow island course.

You didn't see the two agressive dive bombs that norris made? And did you remember the action sainz made on verstappen in exactly the same situation and verstappen nailed it perfectly around sainz? I think they were both too agressive

Nielske 07-05-2024 12:15 PM

See the move from sainz below (same situation, same moving under braking but no one is crying here

Captain Ahab Jr 07-05-2024 01:36 PM

Let the race, it's F1, not kindergarten, elbows out, watch out I'm coming through, better move out my way tactics will put Lando in good stead for future over taking moves

Next time Max will be a little more wary when he see's Lando bearing down, Lando knows this so he'll use it to his advantage on Max and every other driver on the grid

Championship race is getting a bit spicy now, starting to get interesting but fingers crossed there ar too many drivers taking points off each other for any one driver to bring the fight to Max

GH85Carrera 07-05-2024 02:39 PM

Wow, I understand the British announcers are proud of the track, but dang. They all act like it is nirvana.
