100% with ya there... Truthfully passing was never as good in F1 as in other series, that's why the Dijon episode is so famous to this day. But at least the cars sounded great until the hybrid era. I'm sure you all saw that video of Lewis stopping mid interview as Alonso was demo'ing an old V10 car a few years ago, exclaiming "wow those sounded great". It's not just us. I'm sure we all wish for smaller cars with V10s again, and gravel traps for Max ;-) Remember when teams made music with the V10s on the bench ? (youtube). There was a demo of an old Mercedes V10 F1 car a few years back at a track near me (sonoma) before a historic race, Esteban gutierrez drove it then (he was already reserve driver), OMG it made the hair on your arms stand up even from the other side of the track.
I understand attracting manufacturers with hybrid, but IMO F1 crapped all over their #1 asset when they muffled the engines.

I can’t seem to embed the actual YouTube video, but here’s Hamilton being interviewed while Alonso was circulating the track in his 2005 championship winning R25 V10 in Abu Dhabi 2020 during the GP weekend. The sound of that V10 stops him mid sentence.

US justice dept to press corruption charges against Wolff/Horner/Stroll/Domenicali . This could get ugly .

Good sprint, good on OP for following team orders.

Max being Max again gets a penalty 😄

Qualifying rained out till tomorrow

GH85Carrera 11-02-2024 01:53 PM

Yea, that sucks about the rain. I always use my DVR to record the F1 track stuff and now I have no idea what to record as all the times will be rescheduled. And I will be at a meeting tomorrow morning.

Scott Watkins 11-02-2024 01:57 PM

Sounds like more rain forecast for the morning,

https://www.espn.com/f1/story/_/id/42152286/brazil-gp-qualifying-delayed-rain

"Therefore the decision has been taken, after consultation with the stewards, to schedule qualifying for 07:30 local time on Sunday morning ahead of the grand prix at 12:30 local. This will ensure we maximise the chances or providing the fans with a day of racing action and both the FIA and Formula 1 believe this time change is necessary and the right thing to do for all our passionate fans."

GH85Carrera 11-02-2024 02:08 PM

They said in November they get rain on average every three days. It had been three days of clear weather.

Rain .......... the great equalizer . Crazy qualy so far .

rfuerst911sc 11-03-2024 04:31 AM

Looks like Albon is out , too much damage to repair in time to start the race .

Best comment I've seen today

"Verstappen under investigation by stewards for going too quickly under green flag conditions"

rfuerst911sc 11-03-2024 09:01 AM

Quite the drive by Max . And congrats to Alpine and Vcarb for both drivers getting points . Amazing podium finishes for Alpine . A 50 million dollar swing in the constructors championship !!!!!

stealthn 11-03-2024 09:03 AM

Wow, congrats to Alpine!

As far as RB I hope they scrutinize that car, Max’s skills aside, going from 17th to first then to win by 19 seconds, can’t be just his skills…

rfuerst911sc 11-03-2024 09:54 AM

^^^ It's possible that their rain setup just fit the conditions and track perfectly .

That is funny. He put on a school to win by 19 seconds.

For sure, the decision by Red Bull to stay out during the first safety car and wait for the rd flag was a major stroke of luck or planning, likely both.

The red flag bit him during qualifying, but helped him a ton in the race.

My favorite part of the race, the press conference..
Verstappen: "I have a quick question here.
I mean, I appreciate all of you being here, but I don't see any British press!"
"[Do] They have to run to the airport, or they don't know where the press conference is?"

Gasly added to Verstappen's remark:
"That's a fair question."

While I am no great fan of Max antics on track, he is not wrong there, and I have always found the british F1 press to be substantially biased, and Max to be refreshingly honest and funny...I may become a supporter once he leaves Horner and MArko's team

Chandok and a local journalist started a rumor that makes sense to me: What if Horner didn't visit Williams for coffee and some Colapinto on the side, but to offer to buy Sainz contact and let colapinto stay at Williams ? Tasty !!

Also let's point out that in the great equalizer that is the rain, my man Alonso messed up, 7x champ lewis messed up (8x champ says the british press, lol), Sainz messed up, LAndo could not even pass his teammate, and.... Perez who ? and the alpine boys did not so much as put a wheel wrong. Damn ! Makes you wonder where the talent is, once corrected for car...

Best race ever, never enjoyed a F1 1-2-3 finish before

GH85Carrera 11-04-2024 08:11 AM

No one doubts Lewis is a great driver, BUT he has been out preformed my his teammate for a while.

Max has top talents but tends to not play nice with others on track. Much like Sena and Shoemaker did.

one of them was set up perfectly,
the other one finished in 11th place.
Which seems to be the pattern in nearly
every race this year.

The driver skil level is the difference . Max is just so much better than Checo this year has really shown that . No matter what the team tries to lift Checo up it hasn't worked . Same thing for Danny Ric . Look how Liam has done in the exact same car/team as Riccardo . It's the driver .

Deschodt 11-05-2024 09:14 AM

Did anyone else notice Stroll ? After his spin, he willingly *drove* through a wet gravel trap to rejoin (and beached himself, shocker). With an asphalt road on either side of him. How is he still in F1 ?
