URY914 02-06-2024 04:29 AM

Not only that, but he drove Mclaren F1 for several years as I noted. How old are you? You don't remember when he jumped to Mercedes?

Was thinking the same. We need a "Drive to survive" The OFF season" - maybe with Telenovela actresses and sound effects.. I bet the Horner troubles hurt more than the aero time they lost.

And he grew up very poor

So Red Bull is putting the squeeze on Horner, whose toes did he step on.?
Somebody must know something?

Stepping on toes wasn't the problem.
His Spice Girl must not be enough these days.

Why would he say that?

Because it was the McLaren-Mercedes Young Driver Support Programme that funded Hammie since his karting days, thus the nod.

Yup

Christian Horner is accused of " incredibly controlling behavior " . What the heck does that mean ? Apparently he meets with investigators on Friday .

Deschodt 02-06-2024 03:31 PM

Joe Saward - who knows a thing or 3 about F1, says Horner and Newey have contracts that protect one another, as in if one is let go, the other one "can" go too. Imagine Mercedes/Ferrari's glee (though I bet if he goes he retires). At the very least no more Newey would be a big impact. 2025 is gonna be fun for a last year of the old rules.

He is accused of sending dick-pics to a female employee…

I’m betting he’s gone, now if Newey could go to Ferrari in 25 we may have an interesting season. Not saying this one won’t be

Re: Lewis to Ferrari. If Hamilton was whiney and complainy to his Mercedes engineers over in-race strategy decisions, wait 'til he gets a load of how the Boys in Red call races.

If that's what he did and can be proven then he is gone . If that happens it will be interesting to see if Newey stays or leaves .

David 02-07-2024 05:14 AM

I haven't found any reports of Horner doing anything sexually inappropriate. Where are y'all seeing that?

I saw that that came from Bild, which is a tabloid rag. Official statement is that it's something to do with aggressive and abusive management.

There ya go. I forgot that connection. But it was still Ron Dennis.

That's in line with what I have read online . If that's the case RB will make him take some HR driven courses , apologize to the woman and be done . He should not be terminated in my opinion . If the FACTS just show he's a pushy boss .

Yup

I remember he was at the start of his career. The Mercedes team was not winning at all. The stock holders were up in arms about spending a lot of money and getting poor results. Hamilton than moved from a very winning team, to Mercedes and everyone thought he lost his mind. He just moved to the new dominate team at the perfect time.

He could just cruise to win after win with a totally superior car to the rest of the field. Only his teammate managed to win a world championship in that era.

917_Langheck 02-07-2024 09:58 PM

Funny thing about that move to a "dominant team" thing...

Before Ferrari got their scheisse together, Herr Lauda was brought in and got to knocking heads getting things organized, then comes in non-Italian management (Todt, then Brawn) and what do you know, the car works and championships are in reach.

Next we see Norbert Haug running the Merc show, and it never quite gets over the plateau. Then Haug is out and Lauda is in (and Brawn is there...) and the car is working and championships are in the offing.

Then Lauda dies. Mercedes stops winning championships.

Just a little coincidence I noticed when watching some old f1 vids.

rfuerst911sc 02-08-2024 02:43 AM

According to this article sexual misconduct is not the issue/complaint . The complaint is for aggressive management style .
