I used to be able to see all my cookies in Chrome. Now, not.
I always went to Settings and opened Privacy and Security. One menu always had a section Show cookies and site data. Now that's hard to find or get to. What changed? I don't want to click on delete all cookies until I see the list. There are some I'd like to delete on a site by site basis. And block.

I use Chrome and just click on 'clear browsing data' then 'clear data'
There are choices between those two steps as to what you want to clear....and it sticks. (Not sure if that's what you mean.)

History is usually the list of sites that you visited. That'll be something like google.com cnn.com pelicanparts.com grannieswithgiantjugs.com Cookies are items that a website can request be stored on your computer. You can go to 5 websites and not get a single cookie. You can go to 1 website and end up with 5 cookies. Cookies are used to do things like having a website remember that you were there and logged in so you don't have to log in every time you visit the page. THey can be used to track you, send you ads, etc.... Some of the reasons are relatively benign and some are less so. Cache is how your browser saves the bits and pieces that make up websites that you visit. In theory, you could visit a website, have that site cached, and then go back without being connected to the Internet and have that website come up as a sort of "snapshot" of how it was when you visited it. Usually those 3 things are able to be managed independently of each other, although I think many/most browsers these days may offer a "nuke" option where you can delete all of all three with a single click.

Yeah, it easy to nuke the history, passwords in cookie form and images plus other data.
My deal is to bypass something like a paywall on the 2nd visit. If you can find the cookie that prevents you from opening a site on the 2nd visit, you block that cookie and got there as often as you wish. I read some newspapers that way. No wonder they are losing money. |

So no one knows for sure how to do this? I don't want to click "clear" expecting a 2nd confirmation window to appear when in fact it just goes ahead and deletes.

Steve, thank you. I didn't really know what the 3rd party cookie was. I thought that was a cookie placed from another site other than the one you are on. And I have "Block all third party cookies" st to on. So I didn't think to look there.
Yes, that worked and I'm now reading what I want to read behind some paywalls. Not all. Pelican again!! |
