Wallabies and desert boots…
I don’t know about you guys, but in junior high and high school in the 70’s, we used to wear Wallabies or desert boots by Clarks.
I saw a website where they were on sale 20% and took a look, thinking I might want to get a pair. They were priced at $279 for Wallabies and $229 for desert boots… 👀!!! I know we paid a hell of a lot less than that and I won’t be getting some any time soon. Anybody else wear them? ![]() ![]() |

I remember wearing desert boots in the '60's.
I tended to favor Adidas sneaks more than anything else though.

I used to wear those in highschool in the 80s and wore them everywhere, so comfy and quiet with that soft sole. I wear a similar boot like that at work made by Twisted X. The ones I have for work are steel toed and have a different sort of sole and are very grippy, I love em!!!

The only school shoe I wore in the 80's was the Clarks desert boot, not all that comfortable, but definitely durable. Remember the squishy, dried glue-like sole? I was discussing them with friends a few weeks ago, we never see them anymore. I had to Google search to see if they still exist.

Popular because McQueen wore them in Bullitt.

Another memory hole. I've been toying with the idea of finding some tan "roughout" cowboy boots like I used to have when I was a kid. I always liked 'em. I had a few pair of the desert boots, too, but I'm hard on shoes and they never really lasted long.
McQueen wore a slightly different, probably higher quality version of chukkas.. ![]()

I want to say we wore the low version of Wallabies and and boot version of the desert boots.
After looking at Baz’s link on Amazon, they only go to size 13 and I may need a 14. I can always try them in return if needed. I just noticed they have a virtual try on for the shoes. How cool is that! ![]() ![]() Last edited by A930Rocket; 03-04-2024 at 05:38 PM.. |

We called them "head shoes" because the potheads all wore them.
![]() Had a friend who's Dad called them "Chukka boots". Sent from my SM-S916U using Tapatalk

Virtual try on. Well, it won’t let me upload pictures or at least I don’t see them. ![]() ![]() Last edited by A930Rocket; 03-04-2024 at 12:39 PM.. |

The Air Force issued me Chukkas in basic. Haven't worn them since.

Simply rename the PNG files to JPG extension. Then upload them. That is all that is needed.

Yeah me too. I never cared for the style or looks of desert boots. I still have a pair of Frye boots from my early thirties (1970) - the mahogany, square toed ones, without the buckle. I paid $40 for them at the time. Now I just looked at them (with the buckle), & they're $498.
