Dating

I've started dating again and it's been a joy ride of sorts. I'm 54 and have been meeting up with 40 to 51 yo women so far. Not sure if it's a post covid thing but women are much more aggressive than they used to be. No endless texting, many have asked me out after a little back and forth, and then setting up the date which was always my thing just a few short years ago. Two have wanted to pay for dinner. That was odd.

No great stories yet but they are sure to come, online dating being the gift that keeps on giving.

Do you prefer women who like gravy or sauce?

Just as long as gravy is on pot roast and sauce is on fettuccine, we'll be fine.

I'm fatalistic with stuff like this. Just get out there and have some fun. If a woman is interested she'll let you know.

I have been divorced since 2010 and had no thought of ever dating again. My divorce was expensive and there were other life factors that piled on during that time. I was financially crippled and my focus was on getting financially, emotionally and mentality healthy. I had no interest in dating until about 2 years ago. I met a work colleague who I befriended. She help me thru some issues I had with my ex-wife regarding college bills with my youngest son. I wrestled with asking her out - but I got the courage and we have been dating ever since. Looking back, I guess I was ready to step out again,

It has been great - I enjoy her company and we have support for both families which is important. We have grown kids and are grandparents. The hardest part for me was just taking the step to having a friendship and relationship.

You will know when your ready......... All the best.

Jim,
I can relate. Though I did not have kids, I had a devastating divorce that took a toll in all aspects of life, very similar to what you describe. I couldn't trust anymore.

I found solace in being alone or simply with friends and others with common interests.

Long story short is that after 15 years I have met a number of women that I trust AND value even if things just become a "friendship".

It is a good thing!

Shaun,

Go for it, but find a good conservative woman, they will rock your life!

Congratulations, Jim. That is really great to read.

When my mom passed away at 60, my father, also 60, struggled for a few years then also found a former work colleague. They were friends for a bit and then started dating, marrying a year later. Carol had no children.

They were married for 20 years until his death at age 84. They were happy and Carol and Bob where simply outstanding grandparents, the best.

I wish everyone well in the search for companionship.

I can see that there would be benefit to dating, companionship and fun.

But I have to say that the thought of going back to dating sounds like a huge PITA. You have to sift through so much chaff to get to any wheat...

^^^^^^^^^^^Well just like a lot of things in life; if there're worthwhile, then effort has to be put forth with some humility.

The relationship you are looking for will not happen while you are looking for it. Ditch the expectations and wishes and hopes. Only then will "she" come along. Or so it seems. In the meantime, just relax and enjoy the new female friends. Which appears to be exactly what you are doing. You have a great deal to offer, Shaun. Think of yourself as a very attractive property in a seller's market.

Night clubs, church socials, plenty of fish out there.com, cashiers at a grocery store I got 2 phone numbers without asking. Just standing Infront of a store some broad will walk up to you and choose you. I was chased by one in my MGB once, kind of spooked me. LOL! Beware, some broads are crazy. Good luck, and may the force be with you! You sly dog you.

Yes, as we all get older, we figure out how to hide and camouflage it better. You don't realize until it's nearly too late.

If they seem a little crazy from the get-go, those are probably safe. That's probably the crazy that you're getting into, and you are aware of it. If they are really crazy, then you've probably just peeled back a layer or two of that onion, and they'll get more and more concentrated as you continue to peel. If they seem perfectly sane with no issues, proceed cautiously. They may be a unicorn, but more likely, they have something REALLY scary lurking that they know they have to thoroughly hide to lure in potential victims.

I was ok with the broad at 7-11 saying hi, then she reached in her car and played a song and she said "This song is dedicated to you" Hmm I thought, this broad was zany, so I jumped back in my Eclipse and then she followed me. That was odd, the eclipse lost her quickly. The broad that chased me in my MG said hey, I said hey back, then she followed me to a store and I got out, and she had a really intense stare, so I said, "I will return and went into a Michaels and waited for her to leave. More odditys. LOL! I figured they were zany, so I let em go. Gotta be careful, They might have watch the Oxygen channel and wanted a new victim. LOL!
