China - supercheap EV's are available
N.Z - who cares?

Timely!

I was watching a speaker review this morning and saw this in the comments:

"There is a review out there with objective measurements on the FR 10 might make one think twice or ten times before goin in that direction.
For $10k I have high expectations.
For $100k Jay has even higher expectations.
Don’t get out too far over your skis."

Thanks to the internet, phrases and cliches spread like wildfire, including several variations of the ski analogy. I’ve heard for years that it is, “getting ahead of your skis,” which sounds a lot better than the other abominations. IMSHO, of course. ⛷️

I recommend you call Matt and volunteer. I'll be delighted to help with the easy transition.

Best.

Ok, I’ll do it. Send me the forms. :)

I just came back from Europe - there are more electrics here in CA than I saw in Europe. Really not that many. Anecdotal, but one data point indeed...

"You can lead a horse to water, but you can't buy him a drink."

"A rolling stone gathers in a moshpit."

I'm great at screwing up these phrases as evidenced on our YouTube videos!

Well, you asked a question of the audience.SmileWavy

You can’t just resign your commission?

You have a point. When I was in England at a local car show, I didn't see any electric cars.

Another problem for Tesla: the Chinese EV companies have gone through ferocious survival-of-the-fittest competition in their domestic market, while benefiting from tons of government subsidy and protectionism, and the ones that came out on top are ready to annihilate Western EV companies with inexpensive, feature-laden, appliance cars. Tesla was the last Western EV company seriously competing in China, but now it only has 10% share vs BYD at 33%. In Latin America and Asia, where Chinese EVs are sold, they are wiping the floor with Western brands. The same will happen in Europe and the US, unless those countries use tariffs and other protectionist tools to keep the Chinese market penetration down - which I think is pretty likely. So forget about Tesla growing big in China, Asia, LatAm - its growth potential is limited to North America and Europe.

AFA a clean fleet goes, Long Beach has some hybrids, some LNG (CNG and RNG) and maybe a few EV's. The majority of the city buses use nat gas. The building inspectors and others in the field use hybrids. Cops drive IC -SUV's

saw one today.

delivery vehicles seem like the most obvious application for EVs.

tesla is sinking not cause EVs are sinking, but because their are no more adults in the room at tesla. all the serious people got tired of dealing with musk and left, and now its just musk being the whiny child he is, and hes destroying what everyone else built.

But there's a tri-five Chevy. Interesting. They're ubiquitous around the globe apparently. I'll take the CSL, though.

I agree. Stop and go all day long. Of course I remember when UPS just let the truck run while they trotted packages to the door. I wonder how long starter motors last.

Much like the DC3 or C-47 airplanes. Go to most larger airports and you will see a C-47 or DC3. Yea, same airplane, just the different names. They are still useful aircraft. Most of the Tri-5 cars are just toys now.

Don't know about the Elon thing but as far as electrics....I have THREE electric bikes and love all 3 for the differences they bring to the table.

Much like I love my Silverado 1500, Volvo 850 wagon, and (insert model) Porsche....for the differences they bring to the table.

Point being......why REPLACE one with another?

Why not just offer them....and let the market slowly do it's thing?

If you want folks to buy your product you don't MANDATE it - you make the product attractive and functional (form/function) and they will come.

Electric vehicles should also very affordable. I don't know who makes that happen but it's another issue getting in the way of things.

Rode my ebike on the beach today and that sucker can get up to 30mph......talk about friendly to the environment fun! :)
