Another "Name that car"

The red one. Looks to have a Targa top. I was thinking some type of TVR, but found none quite like it. So, any idea?

Looks like a Fiat 850 Spider front end.

Yep, except for the fact that it's a targa, it looks very much like (but not exactly) an old Tuscan

Agree. I flipped this horizontally to line up better.

I think it's a 73 850 Spider with blacked out bumperettes and headlight trim rings, and wipers. The crash bar on the orange car matches the pic, the yellow one looks like angular curve.

IDT it could be anything else than the 850. One has the wipers going opposite, but the majority match as well as the WS trim. Some custom targa wet dream.

Ediot: I just saw that the yellow pic was flipped. So all match.

That's the problem with altered pics.

2nd edit: I just saw that I speeled 'edit' as ediot. I kinda like it.

What about the fact that the OP car seems to be a targa rather than a cab? Otherwise the front end seems to match. It's darn tough to tell for sure based on the rough original photo.

The antenna in both photos appears to be in the same position. The one photo appears to not have a hood ornament, and the turn signals/vs fog/driving lights are different (maybe US vs Euro?). Maybe the appearance of the targa top is an optical illusion due to the poor quality photo/scan.

There is that possibility but the damn thing lines up with the bodywork. More than a coincidence?

Yep, looks like an integrated targa-style top/car to me. I'm just trying to think of a way that it could be one of those 850s, because everything else seems to line up pretty perfectly.

Looks like 850 fore and X 1/9 aft, and the targa bar is the wrong color, maybe cobbled together?

My final answer is it's an AI generated photo of an 850 Spider with a 914 targa roll bar grafted on the back.

There have been many Targa cars made over the years but only one with a rear sloping curved profile, the 914. Additionally, the "artist" clipped the tall 914 seats to graft on.

I'm not sure why the lower part of the sail through the Mercedes windshield is optically skewed. Because it would be through glass or they just couldn't get it right and said it's good enough.

A 914 is huge compared to an 850 Spider so I think the chances are slim someone took a 914 targa bar and welded it to an 850 Spider.

Maybe that top is some sort of European option (see the plates) or add-on.

googling doesn't turn anything up so if not photoshopped, someone made it using 914 sail panels/bar which given the scale (that driver sail panel is way too big for 850 size/proportions). These are rear engine cars but at least it looks like the panels wouldn't interfere with the engine deck lid if positioned outboard on both sides as they would be. But at least 6 inches would have to be removed across the width.

these cars were known for rusting out on their way from Italy to the U.S. on cargo ships. I found one in the dumpster cage of the restaurant I worked out, found the owner at the shop next door and got it for free. It didn't run and wasn't too rusty. I went to college and my parents threw it away while I was gone.

I don't think it's photoshopped. Here's another shot from the same movie a few seconds later.I will admit, the front end sure does look like an 850 although the side signal light is much smaller.

The little side marker light makes that car a 68-69 850 Spider. You can see on the yellow car above how the top when up has the gentle curve toward the base. That combined with top half way down creates the optical illusion.

OK, my FINAL answer is it's a 68-69 850 Spider with the convertible top only partially retracted to create the Targa effect. You can see on the yellow car above how the top when up has the gentle curve toward the base. That combined with top half way down creates the optical illusion.
