Chevy S10 with a V8 - would you buy ?

Hey guys out of the blue I came across a late 90's Chevy S10 pickup with an Vortec 5.3 conversion . The conversion was done 5 years ago with a 4L60E auto transmission and matching ECU.

All gauges work along with AC and heat . Truck is very clean . It could be a fun runner that would allow me to not have to drive my diesel dually around town .

A little hot rod to complement my two Porsche's . So any of you guys had one ? Or driven one ? It is priced right in my opinion .

About 15 years back I bought a Ranger with a built 302 in it. Headers and loud.
I drove it about 5 years and sold it.
It was a fast loud truck that couldn't pass a gas station.

I built mine 6 years ago. Put about 35000 miles on it. Also has cold air and functional dash. Its pretty fun. Gets attention due to being minitubbed with fat tires. No longer has the shell on back.

That's how to do it well. Vanilla Understatement.

Agreed. Nice truck!

A friend of mine had a GMC Syclone. He owned an indy shop and was a serious drag racer. This thing was modded up and when he ran the RPMs up at a dead stop and released the brake it was like being launched off an aircraft carrier, as it had big tires and AWD. Same as this:

Thanks guys. Lots of work went into a $250 truck. Frame rails moved behind the cab, fuel cell under the back, computer for the 4L60E and on and on. At least it has no rust. Its a 94. 98 and newer are known to rust badly.

2 2002 s-10s, even the same color. Do it. That would be a ripper.

Nice clean truck . I would want a cap to create a space for our dog . What engine is yours ? Are you running carburetor or FI ?

That is a great looking truck . Nice stance .

I worked for Jake Raby/FSI for 5 years . The company parts chaser truck was an S10 with 4.3 V6 . I drove that little truck all over Georgia hauling parts . Just something cozy about it . Very simple GM engineering and very reliable . I can only imagine the kick of a V8 . I am not looking to drag race but a fun hot rod around town or even on trips sounds exciting . I have been talking with the seller for the past couple of days . Let's see where this goes .

It was an 85 with a large 4BBL and custom cam. The body was all original and the all red interior was like new.
I wish I had some pics...but I don't. This pic is one very similar...except mine was lifted with larger tires. (same body kit and flares)

Mine is old school small block with carb. I was going to do LS but but someone gave me the SBC for free and that is hard to turn down. It has a hydraulic roller cam, aftermarket heads, intake and a 650 Holley. If I had a do over it would get fi for sure. This $250 truck ended up at $8-10 k, by the time I was done so I did cut some corners. I have done some road trips in it and use it for a truck, so I am happy with it. Even took it to the strip a couple times but the N50 15s are for looks not racing. Ran mid 13s. Did lots of tire spinning. Thats not fun for racing.

Buy it.
How was Jake to work for? He seems to have built quite a niche in the M96 arena.

Jake is great to work for . He is driven for success but was always honest and fair with me . I have two of his engines , fantastic runners .

The seller of the truck is tied up with out of town family activities so I haven't been bugging him . I did learn the engine is an iron block Gen3 which is a solid engine . Stock around 320 hp and 340 lb ft of torque . Plenty of go for a small truck . I expect I will pick up the pace next week on details and making up my mind . Surprisingly my wife was somewhat excited about the vehicle ;)
