If we didn't have the smog laws here in CA, that would be a no brainer buy if I could afford it.

Seller just told me the engine/transmission have 25k miles on them . This decision is getting easier to make 😋 . Truck has 149k miles .

Scott Douglas 05-04-2024 09:00 AM

And it's EFI too?

Yes . The engine/transmission/ECU and harness were taken out of the same vehicle . Everything is stock GM .

What sort of price range are you looking at?

I wish I had some pics...but I don't. This pic is one very similar...except mine was lifted with larger tires. (same body kit and flares)

I had an '88 Ranger with the 2.0L 4-cyl. I'll bet they were about the same!

Hey guys out of the blue I came across a late 90's Chevy S10 pickup with an LS3 conversion . The conversion was done 5 years ago with a 4L60E auto transmission and matching ECU.

All gauges work along with AC and heat . Truck is very clean . It could be a fun runner that would allow me to not have to drive my diesel dually around town .

A little hot rod to complement my two Porsche's . So any of you guys had one ? Or driven one ? It is priced right in my opinion .

I'm thinking a well done model should be great. Especially since it's got the LS3 AND an uprated tranny w/OD, AC, heat, gauges, etc....

So should run nearly forever with appropriate maintenance.

Hard to build one for that. Also hard to find a nice truck of any kind for $10k.

I know a guy that had a corvette 10 years ago that said that he got 30mpg on a commute. Depending upon the gearing (rear) it may get more (depending upon your right foot).

I ran the VIN # through an online lookup website and it originally came with the four cylinder . So unless they changed the rear-end during the conversion it probably has a 3.73 or 4.10 . Not exactly gas miser gearing :D . But should pull like crazy . I would think a 3.42 would be a good compromise . We shall see .

When I built mine I put in a locker with 4.10 gears. After the first time on the track I put in 3.23 gears. Still spins the tires easy.:D:D

Yeah I would imagine even a 3.08 or 2.73 would light em up with a heavy foot . But I envision just a nice sleeper hot rod for just cruising around . No drag racing for me .

I live 1 mile from a dragstrip. Unfortunately it has been closed since I got this truck. If the track would open I would put drag radials on the truck. I do race my C6 on rare occasions but I drive 120 miles to do it. Only doing that 3 or 4 times a year.

Update: seller has been busy with family obligations but we spoke this morning for 20 minutes . He had the front bumper/valance painted late last week to take care of stone chips . He sent me plenty of pics . Truck looks good . We had a good discussion that culminated with me doing a road trip this Saturday to go see/drive/inspect the truck .

It's a 3.5 hour one way trip so it will eat up Saturday. If we make a deal he said he would offer to drive the truck halfway at a future date for pick up . I thought that was a nice gesture on his part . Unfortunately my car trailer is tied up until next Thursday . Another option is I don't go Saturday and go at a later date with my trailer and just have one trip .

His for sale ad is no longer online and he said it's mine if I want it . So he's being flexible which I appreciate .
