What's your dream 3-car garage?
This guy picks a saloon and two supercars.. meh.. not my choice I need a towing rig, people hauler and a classic so #1 has to be a 4wd Suburban for towing, Home Despot runs, Scuba trips #2 a newer 4 door like a VW TDI Passat #3 is a tossup between a 300SL and a 356 Speedster ![]() If I really had to choose it would be the Speedster. I could drive it in the summer with the top down in Arizona and I could do all the maintenance myself. The mechanical fuel injection of the 300 SL I would have to take to someone. still it would be a hard choice |

First is the 96 LC. The a/c compressor seized yesterday on my way back from south of St. Petersburg.
Hot. Being fixed. After that? One old BMW. I’ll figure out which one gets the slot. Targa. Pick a year. Last edited by Seahawk; 06-20-2023 at 12:42 PM.. |

Doug spells out the rules in his vid
3 cars only and you have to live with them on a day to day basis. Money is not a consideration. so you guys choosing three dream cars you will have to choose which one you want to park at the movie theater when you want to go see the next Spiderman or Dune. Are you going to take the F40 or Muira or 930 and leave it unattended in the parking lot for two hours? Are you going to leave a Ferrari California or a Duesenburg in the parking lot of Home Depot? I want to go diving in San Carlos Mexico. What are the chances of me bringing a F40 back across the border? |

When I downsized I sold this pair of old Porsches and combined only lost a little over 500hp.
Speaking of HP that left 2 V8 race cars at 650hp and 750hp. ![]() ![]() Truck and trailer required. Currently inbound 2 street car projects a 75 280z and a 55 Nomad. If I were a baller my preference would be no Porsches thank you, a Miura, F40 and a Canepa Design custom car hauler would be nice. ![]() And I would Uber or rent a cheap car when required. ![]() ![]() Last edited by ted; 06-20-2023 at 01:32 PM.. |

I have watched Doug a grand total of 3 minutes and that's being generous. Those are his dream garage rules? How about easily attainable with a little planning garage? Oh, what fun it is to dream about cars I already own or could in a week or two. In that case I already have several dream garages. Wooo hoooo!

Somewhere here we have a Pelicanite who has a story of his 930 getting stolen in the parking lot of a grocery store. He was running errands and a couple thieves in a flat bed spotted him and followed him until he stopped. He was only in the store for a couple minutes but that was enough time for the thieves to get his car on the rig and out of sight. The car was in park and they dumped diesel fuel on the ground to help hoist the car on the bed.
so which three cars do you really want to own? |

![]() The 3 cars I would want to own has changed over my life time. At anytime what I have is what I want. 3 is the max, 4 or more cars you are just charging batteries, changing fan belts and tires, paying for smog checks, insurance and registration. |

1. Something for hauling, skiing, fishing, exploring. Maybe 4 door W461 G-wagen.
2. Something very very comfortable for daily and long trips. W124 500E, or the wagon equivalent from the MBZ/AMG line-up. 3. Somehing fun, but reliable and civilized enough that my wife would tolerate weekend runs to the coast. Doesn’t need to be a hardcore twisty car. A 911 (my 89 Carrera would be fine), a well-sorted E-type Jag, a BMW 3.0CS, a BMW i8, something like that. I guess a Cayenne could cover both 1 and 2, leaving an open slot for a second fun car or (gasp) a super-economical local runabout (BMW i3?). I’m assuming I can stash a trailer in the side yard, otherwise I’d have to consider a pickup truck.

Toyota pickup with 3VZ-FE, AC, extended cab. Mercedes-Benz O 319, (with a custom interior designed for camping and outdoor activities) and an M5 in San Remo Green (without the competition package, but with a CF roof). ![]() ![]() ![]()
