Either way it's going to be a cash cow. It's "John Henry, the steel drivin' man" against the new fangled Pretty Boy. A tale old as time.
I'm looking forward to it. |

There is a great video out there where Jake Paul is telling his dad about the fight for the first time. Dad pretty much says what I was thinking.

The fight will go the distance. I guarantee they talk about what’s going to happen before hand so everyone makes a lot of money and comes off looking okay. Too much of a gravy train for Paul to lose. Also, Did Paul wrestle D1 college too? If so, that dude can go forever conditionally.

What are these guys getting paid for this fight?

Not an exhibition fight, it’s Professional. And it’s being broadcast on Netflix. Not PPV. Interesting.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jake_Paul_vs._Mike_Tyson From the article… “On April 29, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations confirmed it approved the fighters' request, and the bout will be a sanctioned, professional fight.[11] The bout will consist of 8 2-minute rounds with 14-ounce gloves.” |

I don't know if it will be honest or not, but your comments remind me of one of many Jack London boxing stories - Here's one worth reading:

I know next to nothing about the sport of boxing. Other than Tyson/Holyfield, the last bout I actually watched was Ali/Spinks.
I'm sure the 2 minute rounds are a godsend to Tyson, but still a pretty long stretch of time after the first round or two. It's the gloves that I'm wondering about. I would imagine the extra 4 ounces lessens concussive impact for both boxers. But does the extra weight matter to these fighters in terms of endurance? Is it significantly harder to hold up 14 oz. gloves over the course of the fight? Does the extra 4 oz. impact reaction time? Will their hands lower to any meaningful degree if the fight goes to 7 or 8 round? Basically, having never worn a pair of boxing gloves, I have no frame of reference for whether 4 ounces in each hand really matters that much. If so, less tape? |
Hold a 12 oz. beer in one hand.....a 16 oz. beer in the other. Extend arms straight forward, raise to vertical above your head......raise / lower / raise / lower for two minutes. You'll have an answer to your question. SmileWavy
Drink both beers. I know less about boxing than you do! |
