“Racing Rear View Mirror”
Anyone used something like this? A segmented multi-panel racing rearview mirror.
https://www.amazon.com/3-Panel-Racing-Angle-Mirror-Inches/dp/B075NPF6BT/ How well do they work - a reasonable substitute for having side mirrors?

Why get rid of side mirrors?
Side mirrors still cover a blind spot difficult to see with any interior mirror. I had one with 5 panels worked fine. I prefer the curved interior mirror with big side mirrors. ![]() |

Depends on the car. Useless in a Boxster.

Amazon link is broken..
I have something similar in my racecar, its a one piece convex mirror that is about twice as wide as a stock mirror. It wont eliminate the need for side mirrors, but it give a much better rear view, filling in the blanks..... https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/productdetails.asp?RecID=28685

Thanks for the flash back to my Youth in the 70's when I ran these multi mirrors in my High School VW Bug.
GRINS. Problem with them is at the factory the mirrors don't always align in the Vertical, so looking at 2 mirrors one would show asphalt, and the next your view was at a headlight level behind you.

Thanks. I think I will try taping a convex mirror to my factory mirror to see how it works.

I've been running a 5 panel "Wink" mirror
I've been hotrodding my toyota work trucks for about 5-6 years.
After i had a close call blind spot miss, i bought and installed a Wink 5 panel and it has been a big help making me more easily aware of traffic. One drawback is having to duck down a bit at stop lights to see them, but overall i think it is a winner. This is very much an individual choice as drivers heights and windshield heights vary. I am about to get my dad's hot rod twin plug 2.8 back on the road and I will try a Wink in it. If the height/view is an issue, i may try one of the convex models. As you get older/slower/easily distracted, better visability/awareness is a big plus. chris |

The 4 panel Wink "Wide Eye" was heavily advertised to VW bug enthusiasts, and the 5 panel Wink was a racing mainstay for years.
I haven't thought about them in a long time; even JCWhitney sold 'em!
