Last Nights Fun...Warning: there will be blood.

My closest (in distance) neighbor is a 90 year old lady who lives there alone. Her nearest family members are two hours away. I watch out for her even though she is still a very active lady.

Just before it started getting dark out last night....she called me and said one of her large trees along the road had lost a limb and it was blocking traffic.
I was dressed in shorts and t-shirt at the time and hurried over there with my battery powered 10" Bauer chain saw and cut it up and hauled the limbs back into her yard. It was very dark by the time I was done and I knew I had scratched my legs up some while walking thru the downed limbs.
I should have put long pants on first but I was in a hurry...my legs bleed easily.

I think I need a new pair of socks.

I washed them up good and applied about a dozen bandaids....the bleeding has stopped.

Blood is like engine oil, a fairly small leak of which can look like anything but.

On blood thinner? Even with just a baby aspirin / day, if I knick my leg the next thing I know, my shoes are filling up with blood!

At that hour I just pleased you had pants on. It could have been a whole lot worse.

Nope...at almost 71 years, my skin on my legs seem to be very thin. I find any nick or scrape starts bleeding. It'll clot up fine...so I'm not worried about it.

She worries about everything...which I understand being at that age.
But she seems to be tough....in the summer she is out working on her lawn and garden every day that weather permits.

Jeebus! You know better than to run a chain saw (electruc or gas) in shorts. Any kind of fabris will atleast foul up the chain and slow it down before it goes too far...

My old kevlar fallers pants would stop the chain of a Shihl 036... I know becasue I worked with some geniouses on a slash crew in highschool... They tested such things.

Did the same thing about 10 years ago.....healed up OK on it's own.

It was the chainsaw that did the cut - not what I was cutting.

No good deed goes unpunished. I am still healing up from the last 3 weekends volunteering to help family and friends with things they cannot do themselves due to age.
