912 pro touring?

I wonder how well they'll sell?

They must be doing OK as the site says there's only two build slots left for 2024. Didn't see how many were originally available or how much they cost.

Someone help me understand. Why is it running a four cylinder, and not a six? Wouldn't there be more of a market with the six in it, regardless of how the car started out?

There is virtually no info on the web page. I wonder what the options are? Do they have testimony of satisfied customers? Are far as price is concerned, I guess if you have to ask you can't afford it.

Dumb question on my part, but why do that to a 912?

To answer some of the questions being asked, from a long time former 912 owner, the answer is that the 912 is an inherently better handling car than its 6-cyl brethren and with the power they're advertising (190HP) it would be way more fun than a six.

Cool car, but there are a lot of others I would spend that kind of money on before I bought one.

Less than 1700 lbs, 190 hp! That would be a hoot to play around with. I certainly do not need massive HP numbers. I'm the odd one though. I don't get Nurnberg ring times either. Who cares how fast your new whatever can lap the ring. You can't drive like that in the real world.

To get 190 hp out of a 4 banger requires revving the piss out of it so most of the power it up high. I have a track prep long hood that is 2161 lbs with almost nothing left that's necessary and a 2.7 dyno at a little over 240hp. Short geared and fun but with all the power up top, not much fun on the street if driven often.

We have some pretty similar vehicles... we really need to have a beer one day.

These companies building boutique, low "production" numbers and insanely priced vintage Porsches on the 911 chassis are certainly interesting from a performance perspective (Singer, etc) but I'd trade it all for the days when just about anyone could pick up a used air cooled 911 from between $5,000-$20,000 with little effort or drama.

The creations are incredible from one standpoint and absurd from another.

Sounds good to me. You still have the big old Duramax?

There's a local guy that has one that show up sometimes to our aircool get together monthly. I caught a glimpse of that car couple times only because I go once a year to see old friends. It sounds really good and mean too when the revs are up. I just don't know what muffles he has on there

OP Link - They make a very cool car. I've always liked the 912.
- The 911/912 air-cooled chassis is very versatile.

But also this from another company.
(I don't like the exhaust outlet but I can see why they did it)

^This.

I've owned more 912's than 911's. To have 190hp with a 912 weight distribution would be pretty neet.

(Although I'd take my 911 sc 3.0 torque to it for daily driving)

The concept seems fun though. That's what it's about! (Even if it doesn't sound right- aka 911)

The young guy a few houses down from me bought a brown 912 with a Benton built engine. We have yet gone out for a drive up the canyons although we talked about it several times. Its pretty much stock so its your typical run of the mill long hood.
