Machinery's Handbook, 32nd Ed
I was honored to be asked by the Publishers at Industrial Press to write a revised chapter on lubrication for the 32nd edition of the Machinery's Handbook.
The work is a comprehensive reference book used by engineers, machinists, toolmakers, and mechanical designers. It serves as a practical and authoritative guide containing a wealth of information on various aspects of mechanical engineering and manufacturing processes. "𝑆𝑖𝑛𝑐𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑓𝑖𝑟𝑠𝑡 𝑒𝑑𝑖𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑝𝑢𝑏𝑙𝑖𝑠ℎ𝑒𝑑 𝑚𝑜𝑟𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑛 100 𝑦𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑠 𝑎𝑔𝑜, 𝑀𝑎𝑐ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑒𝑟𝑦’𝑠 𝐻𝑎𝑛𝑑𝑏𝑜𝑜𝑘 ℎ𝑎𝑠 𝑏𝑒𝑒𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑚𝑜𝑠𝑡 𝑝𝑜𝑝𝑢𝑙𝑎𝑟 𝑒𝑛𝑔𝑖𝑛𝑒𝑒𝑟𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑜𝑢𝑟𝑐𝑒 𝑜𝑓 𝑎𝑙𝑙 𝑡𝑖𝑚𝑒. Congratulations!!
I have my father's MH he used in collage in the '40's I'll check the date. When I worked with him he'd pull it off the shelf and check the tolerances for the most obscure things. Bearing to shaft tolerance for a 14" drive shaft for a pump. . |
I have two editions, one published in the nineteen teens and one in the early 2000's. I'll have to check which editions they are and report back. It's amazing how similar they are in many respects. A retiring senior engineer gave me the old one back in the '80's or early '90's. He was still using it.

15th Edition, Second printing, 1955 |
Congratulations! I just call it the bible, my latest is 23 edition, and still dig through it for info.
|
Some stuff is timeless while other topics need a refresh due to material advancements.
|
I've got the Thomas Glover Pocket Ref; not as comprehensive, but still chock full of specs and tables.
|
I have the 22nd edition sitting right here beside me.
|
Got my 20th edition as an apprentice, keep it in my Gerstner.
|
That’s a BIG deal. Wow. Congratulations.
|
5th Edition, 1919. It was my grandfather's.
I win! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1719617999.JPG |
That's awesome! Congrats!
The 23rd edition sits next my 6th edition of Roark's Formulas for Stress & Strain. I may just need to pick up a new copy of the MH so that I finally have relevant lube info... |
I've been looking to source the 1st edition that is not a replica. Nothing on-line yet. I may have to visit some old factories...

Mr. Mike, Congrats on being published.
I was an amateur Tribologist and a halfway decent vibration tech in a past lifetime. The photo is the handbook my Father used in the mines of Peru, up in the Andes http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1719683655.jpg |
