In search for the purfect Cayman has ended ....and why

After over a year of many manipulations of proposed inbred congenital problems with the Porsche Brand, I have skipped ship.
Earnestly, I was seeking a Cayman.
For a certain I diligently studied the car and tried.
I have sent a lot of good people here on checkout runs.
I thank you all over and over again and again.
All the advice here was correct and plentiful.
After almost two years I finally discovered I did not want the Porsche tax .
Did not want a mystical PDK.
A question as to when the bore score was going to arrive?
Shifter cables and etc etc etc etc ?
I bought the BMW albeit it is branded Toyota.
These are made in Austria close enough to Germany.
For comparison, the money, and the power, I would have to move into the 6-cylinder Cayman, not the 718.
The Supora is 50-50 balanced, will pump out 600HP with no complaints .
What was I to do?
It is a little more computerized than I like, even a wired-in limited slip.
A stupid person can drive this as it will match engine revs to the downshift.
Lots of gadgets.
Again thanx to everyone for all the help all along here.
More pix maybe tomorrow.

AWESOME! Congrats!

masraum 07-02-2024 02:52 PM

Nice, that's the key. Drive a bunch of stuff and get the one that you like and want! It looks like you did that!

I'm eager to hear your thoughts on it.

I guess you got Angela Merkel wearing a kimono dating Ahnold. :D

I hope you enjoy your Z4. ;)
(Just teasing. Enjoy your new ride.)

Miata Coupee?

JK, on the short list for my next daily driver

Better looking in real life than pictures

Supora? Thought you gave up and got sushi and a Sapporo…

Kidding. Looks like a fun ride.
Dave.

Agreed. When I started seeing it online, I thought "meh", but the first time I saw one in person I changed my mind. They are pretty cool in person. I was surprised that they look smaller than the previous generation, and I guess they are a little bit (not quite as long, by about 8"), and they are essentially the same weight as the previous gen.

I love my first year Cayman S, but I did get to see the Supra up close at a local DIY wrench shop and it’s a nice looking car!

LEAKYSEALS951 07-02-2024 05:18 PM

Dude, I thought I overanalyzed stuff...

And then I saw your threads on the caymans. :D

Seriously, I'm glad you found something. I've got many of the same hangups on some of the newer p-car stuff.

These really look like cool cars. We will need follow up threads.

Enjoy!

The Supra makes too much sense. None of the risks you would have with the Cayman. I still prefer the Cayman but I do not make totally logical decisions. I believe the Supra will be a great experience. Have fun with it.

Congrats on the new ride, AB!

In many cases, the journey to acquire "the right" wheels does take some time.....and rightly so!

Zoom zoom.....ENJOY, my brother!!!

WPOZZZ 07-03-2024 03:10 AM

If it makes you happy, so be it!

masraum 07-03-2024 05:26 AM

We need more details. What options/features did you get? Need more pics too! Here or that other thread.

fanaudical 07-03-2024 05:28 AM

Nothing wrong with that decision. We all just want something that works for us and simplifies life. That's one of the reasons why I dropped using big Audi sedans as my daily drivers and just bought an older, pre-scratched truck...

That car looks fun - enjoy!

Supra is a great car congrats and enjoy.

For the record since you keep bringing it up

4 Cyl Cayman S/GTS will keep up with a supra , no problem. The data is everywhere I have driven both. 6 cyl caymans are 718s as well.

Does the Toyota have a sport or sport plus mode?
Its a big factor on the Cayman S.

DavidI 07-03-2024 06:52 AM

Beautiful car! Enjoy it and drive it like you stole it, David

afterburn 549 07-03-2024 10:42 AM

thanx All
And yes the Suopra has a "sport" mode, and supposedly it becomes a whole different animal.
IDK yet as I am massaging the piston rings into the proper holes.
The suspension is somehow interactive and adjust atomically on the fly.
The exhaust is also called active or something and gets way louder....
The car has a lot of futures like radar front and sides.
If parking too close to the curb front and sides it will warn the driver.
No complaints yet.
It was said these are hard to get I and out of.
I am not sure who comes up with the crap..must be there were driving a Van of sorts B4?
My back is bad and use a cane, no problems with it at all.
