New Toyota TRD OffRoad for me. :)

After 24 years I decided to buy a new Taco. My old one has been a faithful and dependable part of my family since I bought it new in 2000. It has never ever broken down once. Not even after almost 194K on the clock.

I bought a new TRD OffRoad double cab 4x4. Wow! This thing has everything!

The last one is to show my support of my daughter.

Try and keep the new one cleaner than your old POS

Seriously, you just made some young person very happy trading or selling your 2000...very nice.

The Mercury sticker is the coolest!

Nice truck! Good job with the sliding rear window, useful when loading long pipes or 2x6's.

Curious, did you trade in the old one or keep it? Those have great resale!

Haha. I do try to keep my cars nice. Unfortunately my 2001 was never garaged a day in it's life.
I did not trade it in. I still have the 01 but I am going to sell it. I actually have it listed here in the misc. for sale section. Lots of pictures there to see.

Great eye on the plane identification Paul! Yup, Mercury E-6B is what she will be flying. Tim is already doing his time on them as well being an NFO.

No mods planned for now. I have to wait for my wallet to take a breath from the new purchase.

Ah yes, I have hauled many things that were too long in the old truck by using the back window.
The truck is up for sale in the misc. for sale section. Link to our shop database for pictures is there.

I do not know what the towing capacity is on the new one. I would check, but I drove the wife's Rover to work today. I am sure it is better than the old one. I have a 22' Jayco Jay Flight that I towed with the other. I'll check later and update you on this.

Nice truck! I had a 2014 for a few years. Unfortunately, the wife insisted on getting a travel trailer that exceeded it's towing specs by a lot. Your old one looks immaculate. I'm sure there will be a line of people wanting it. They really have a cult following and for good reason.

Hey watch it there man! Just kidding. I have driven Dan's old truck and as you'd expect from him it is fastidiously maintained.

Congrats on the new truck Dan. I like the color combo.

My neighbor has a TRD Offroad but never takes it off road. However, he absolutely luvs it. He drove Tundras for years while I've always been in a Taco. Once he drove mine he made the change.

My previous Taco was a 2006 4 cylinder. It rusted out after 225K but was still running perfectly. My 2020 Sport has been perfect YTD.

Enjoy that sweet truck.
The production plant in TJ Mexico is state of the art and the cafeteria food is real good.
We did some LEAN consulting there and they are totally devoted to that Toyota manufacturing methodology.
Employee families and relatives can show up for dinner at the cafeteria as a pay option for the employee.

Nice! I've been casually considering a smaller truck (have a Dodge 1500 now) and Tacoma's have been on the list.

A guy I flew with at North Island, we also owned a house together in Coronado, got out early and went to USC and got a Masters in Production Manufacturing...he did two "Green Fields" for Toyota, one in Indiana and the other the TJ facility mentioned above.

I absolutely loved production work, lean work, etc...I would have stayed on that track in the Navy but managing two careers was more critical so I stayed in acquisition and test.

My three years at the Sikorsky Factory in Bridgeport as the Chief Government pilot, not exactly Toyota but we tried with Lean Events, remains my absolute favorite three years doing anything.

That tour also prepared me for negotiating large aircraft contracts...you learn a lot.

Before i go look, is there a seat lowering option on the Tacoma? When we move I plan on selling the Tundra and getting something smaller.
