That link was to a live stream. Those guys were on a barrier island in Sargent and Surfside Beach. I watched as a major rain band came ashore right where they were, and the wind was very strong, and sideways rain was pummeling the area. I watched until around midnight before having to turn it in for the day. Crazy stuff.
We were vacationing in Destin, Florida, when Sally hit down there a couple of years ago, and I accidentally locked myself out of the house the night Sally came ashore. We were getting some pretty strong wind, and it was starting to rain at the time. I hunkered down in a corner on the porch and just rode it out for an hour or so. Everyone still reminds me of that incident every time we go to the beach. Lol. "Remember that time when Marty locked himself out of the house during a hurricane? "...lol. the wind was strong enough that some siding was blown off of the house. Yeah, that was a fun night. It was my birthday, and I'd had a few beers that night. Good times!!!

We're OK farther inland. Our kids and many friends and colleagues are without power, but otherwise OK.

Folks on the north side of Houston are still bearing the brunt. Folks on the south side are probably past the worst of the storm.

We are about 3 miles off the center path of Beryl. We're in the eye right now. With a TS, it isn't as well developed as a Hurricane eye. But the winds are down and no rain right now.

Stupid people in our neighborhood think it is over...

Yep, you folks got a direct hit. Hopefully, the worst is over since what's left is the "clean" side of the storm. Still, the bit surrounding the eye is heavy.

So, this means you're about halfway through it?

Yes. But the south half has a lot less rain. Just wind, and not as strong, as the storm has weakened since this morning.

We've been on General power for about an hour and half.

Just did a walk about and thank God nothing broke. A few of the newer trees leaning, but nothing that Ricardo can’t get sorted

Wind continues to blow, but slowing a bit. Almost looks like the sun is trying to peak out.

From our front porch.

Our son-in-laws boat just down the street from us.

Hopefully, nothing came down on him and he doesn't have to use it. But better safe than sorry.

I have a cousin in North Houston, they lost power sometime around 9am or so. She said there was a large tree that had fallen across the street but didn't hit anything. Looks like she and her family will be fine. She said at times the rain was horizontal.

Yep, I had a couple/few friends that lost power around 9-930 that live on the north side of town. One of them got power restored several hours ago, but most of the folks that I know of still don't have power. Our kids lost power around 4 this morning.

He has like 10 acres, piney woods, but he already cut down everything but hardwood trees on his property, tree would have to fly a little to hit his house, but trees do that in this sort of weather.

He will mostly be using it on other peoples property in the next few days.

Excellent! No home damage. Helping neighbors use the way to go.

This is crazy. It was a weak CAT 1 hurricane. Yet, we have 2 million people without power. Something is seriously wrong.

My new son in law’s brother’s boat was moored in Grenada. The brother and his girlfriend had flown home (Santa Cruz) for the wedding. The brother decided to fly back alone to Grenada to secure the boat. Got into Grenada about two hrs before they closed the airport. He secured the boat and rode it out aboard during 65 kts. NOT what I would have done.

He was lucky! Minimal damage to the boat. Lost a sheet or two and one cleat.

Wow ... that's gotta be brutal for folks who aren't somewhat "heat tolerant".

Glad you all fared OK ....
